Chief and TheDoomsdayDevice, in the simplest terms, is an artist.  In the grander spectrum, renaissance man may be a more applicable title.  He is a longtime DJ and MC, a self-taught artist and graphic designer, actor and a YouTube content creator/filmmaker.  He has released 14 albums under the Chief and TheDoomsdayDevice name, countless more with former crews and bands, and 3 short films.  Chief has booked acting gigs in a handful of short and feature films, with bigger projects on the horizon.  He has even managed to create, maintain and curate a moderately successful music blog focusing on himself and other creators, as well as a pair of Tumblr-based blogs for his artwork and film reviews.  All of these accomplishments were achieved with a DIY mindstate, a ‘fan first’ approach, and the intention of showing that anyone with drive can achieve the same things.

Chief and TheDoomsdayDevice was born and raised in Austin, TX, and the city has certainly had an influence on his lifestyle and creative endeavors.  There is an obvious embrace of both the weird aesthetic and the love for live music of most any variety.  Although hip-hop would be the easiest genre title that can be applied to his music, Chief prefers to think of it as ‘hip-hop for music lovers’, in the sense that the sphere of influence is vast and far-reaching, and it encapsulates print, film and digital media as well as musical influences.

Founding member of The Word Association, Electric Mayhem and Binary Audio Misfits.  Former member of .::liquidstereoproject and the DKC.

The Word Association opened many doors for Chief.  Aside from learning how to book shows, promote shows, make promotional material, record and perform on a higher level, the crew traveled throughout the southern, eastern and midwestern sections of the United States.  A MySpace encounter led to the forming of Binary Audio Misfits (a Texas / France collaboration with Tolouse, France rock band Experience).  After an international recording contract, tours of the US, Canada and Europe, and several SXSW appearances, the project was dissolved.

Chief continues as a solo artist, and continues to find new areas of exploration.
