Summer Madness :: SniperShot & Flotation Connect For ‘Laid Back’

When you think about summer, what comes to mind?  Kicking it with the homies at the skatepark?  If so, then SniperShot and Flotation have a surprise for you in the form of Laid Back, the recently released single and video from the duo.  Both of these guys have held it down for the Dallas hip-hop scene for years, so seeing them combine forces (along with a visual assist from RSNL Media DFW) is always welcome.  Drop a like and a comment on the video, and if you’re really feeling the track, cop it from the streamable embed below :

Fresh Starts :: Flotation Drops ‘Brand New’ Single

Boom bap is not dead yet.  Insight and knowledge is not dead yet.  The latest example comes from Flotation, based out of Dallas, in the form of the single Brand New.  Featuring production by Ritchy Flo and a pitch perfect guest verse from Molekular, Brand New is an example of making something fresh out of a familiar approach.  As Flotation states, ‘we bring the funk back daily’, and if this is a taste of what may come in the form of a full-length project, I am definitely ready to scope it out.  Props on the design and presentation of this project.. it’s cool to see someone drop the single / instrumental / acapella format again.  Dig it and download it.

Keep Rising :: J-Kid & Flotation ‘Learn To Fly’

Nothing is more gratifying than watching an artist embrace the aesthetic of DIY, and slowly improve over time.  J-Kid, already a solid emcee, has been embracing his visual side, and Learn To Fly, a collaboration iwth Flotation, is one of his stronger achievements in the realm of music video.  Solid song, multiple locations, linear visual narrative and callback shots… we just might have a budding filmmaker on our hands.
