As a longtime supporter, peer and fan of Bird Peterson, I would’ve been happy if he kept to the release schedule for projects it seemed he was establishing… after a flurry of mixes and remix projects, Plume dropped in 2015. Four years later, the stellar Infinity Molasses was released. Based on this pattern, I was set on Bird Peterson until the mid-2020s. Yet, here we are, nine months after Infinity Molasses, and Bird Peterson has yet again raised the bar with I Am What You Am I Am. Between the solid production (a Bird Peterson signature), the Bleubird guest feature and the litany of vocal samples, Bird is entering the realm inhabited by producers like DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist. To put it plain and simple, don’t sleep on this album, as it has made a clear-cut case for album of the year right out of the gate. Check it out, support if you can, and share it around regardless.

Bird Peterson is officially in full rollout mode for the upcoming Infinity Molasses. My man has been dropping singles like crazy, the latest being the super catchy Conflict Resolution. The track is the standard, infectious Bird Peterson mix of dope drums, textured samples and a few hilarious soundbites. For vocal duties, he’s enlisted the help of Florida underground legends BLEUBIRD and Jabrjaw to match the track energy, and all parties involved more than stand up to the challenge. It’s nice to hear tracks that defy genre classification in this manner, as this song could easily get play in both dance clubs and hip hop circles without anyone batting an eye or questioning the placement. With the sneak previews we’ve been given thus far, I must say that my anticipation for Infinity Molasses continues to grow and grow.

Bird Peterson is the man right now… there appears to be no end in sight to his continual rise and his constant stream of quality output. Bird recently announced the upcoming release of his new album Infinity Molasses, and to put a ripple in the waters so that waves can be created, he’s dropped the single Floor Shaker. Bird‘s production sets the table for Shack Baker to lyrically serve the listeners, then Bird jumps back in and builds up the track to a wonderful release, allowing Shack to show us the way out and back to our everyday lives. If Floor Shaker is an indication of what Infinity Molasses will be, I think I’m ready for the ride.
