Stand Up :: Black Lives Movement, San Marcos TX

San Marcos based filmmaker and YouTube channel owner Russel Reed recently documented the #BlackLivesMatter march that took place in response to the killings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castille at the hands of police officers.  The march focused a bit on police brutality, but the main goal was awareness of learning how to mobilize the black community as a connected unit, whether that be through educating the masses of the struggle, educating us on our economic power, or educating us on how we can make a difference at the polls.  The protest was a peaceful one, and it opened many eyes in this community to how the broader issues can ultimately effect us all.

Don’t Sleep :: Dat Boy Supa Releases ‘The Juice’ Video

Dat Boy Supa has been a mainstay on the Austin hip-hop scene for quite a number of years.  His m.o. is simple.. hard beats, hard rhymes and dope live shows.  This go round, we’re getting a new video, a representation of an upcoming project.  The Juice is a quick view into the creative mind and mindset of Supa, with a little nod to Belly thrown in for good measure.  Good stuff.

Esoteric Clerics :: ‘Barbaric Rhetoric’ Video Drops

When Butcher Bear reached out to me for a guest verse spot on This Is How The Game Gets You Played, I was honored.  When I heard the final version of Barbaric Rhetoric, with BoomBaptist added on, I was blown away.  Then, when Butcher Bear reached out to us for a Karan Kapoor directed video, I was very much excited.  We shot it, shopped it, and I’m glad to say that it has now hit the digital airwaves.  I could not be happier to share this video with everyone, and I’m looking forward to future collaborations with all of these guys.

Night Terrors :: ‘3am’ Video From Robot And MLMG

Mona Lisa Music Group affiliate (and original member) Robot has just unleashed a beast of a music video on us.  Music video may be selling it a bit short… director CiaraBoniface actually refers to it as a film right out the gate.  3am is definitely a super solid track, and the visuals are engrossing as hell.  This one definitely deserves your attention and your shares.

Labor Days :: ‘Never Seen Me’ By Krypol Haze Gets Visualized

Confidence… if you don’t have that in this hip-hop game, you’re lost before you even start.  Based on Krypol Haze‘s Never Seen Me video, it’s clear there is no lack of confidence in this Austin MC.  Spitting bars at the job (a scenario I am all too familiar with) is just spitting bars to this cat.  This is the type of track to put naysayers on notice… lets folks know that just because we’re not living the glamorous life doesn’t mean we aren’t spitting life changing lyrics.  Do yourself a favor, and get hip now.

Stand Up :: Da’Shade Moonbeam’s ‘Power’ Visualized

Da’Shade Moonbeam has never been one to shy away from the important issues at the time they mean the most.  Power finds Da’Shade speaking about those that serve and protect us, how we must learn to trust without being victims, and how they must learn to do a job that may be against their nature.  The police are definitely here to protect us, but the ultimate responsibility for protection of you and yours lies on the individual.  Anytime Da’Shade speaks on topics that matter, I will most certainly listen.

Powerful Beautiful :: Wild Child’s ‘Break Bones’ Comes Alive

Austin based duo Wild Child recently snuck onto my radar with their video for Rillo Talk, an immaculately beautiful and trippy experience in its own right.  I definitely dug what these kids were throwing down, so it’s nice to see their upward journey continue with Break Bones.  Equally beautiful, this one is set up to be a charting single with the right push and exposure.  Bonus, the Austin Music Video Festival helped put together a making-of doc…

Broadcast News :: Third Root & Reggie Coby’s ‘Reflection Of The Times’ Visualized

Growing up in the AustinSan Antonio corridor is a beautiful thing as a music fan.  Reflection of the Times, the lead single off of San Antonio-based hip hop outfit Third Root‘s upcoming release Libertad is a perfect example of that synergy.  The album is produced by Austin legend (and old friend) Adrian Quesada, and it features the guest vocal stylings of Reggie Coby.  The track in itself is exactly what it’s advertised as… vocalized thoughts on how the more things change, the more they stay they same, and why we cannot accept that.  Share this far and wide.

Naturally Progressive :: Mindz Of A Different Kind Visualizes ‘Astrophyziks’

I recently checked out Mindz of a Different Kind‘s latest release, Foursight, and as always, I was highly impressed with their work.  I’ve seen a handful of their videos in the past, and they’ve always been dope, with that old school Rap City aesthetic that got me into wanting to make music videos and films in the first place.  But man oh man, they’re coming out swinging with the visual elements this round.  DVZN Media got the call for the single Astrophysikz, and it’s ill as hell.  As my last video showed, I’m a huge fan of the pirate broadcast aesthetic, and the geniuses at DVZN Media nailed it.  Add some real raps over solid production, and you’ve got a winner.

Jeffy’s Playhouse :: Chief And TheDoomsdayDevice On The Jeffrey Garcia Show

Fellow San Marcos resident and San Marcos Cinema Club member Jeffrey Garcia is known for his wonderful show that he produces for the Jeffy’s Playhouse YouTube channel.  For episode 4 of season 2, I paid a visit and performed New Zulu Zandu off of my latest album, Transition Man.  Check it out!
