Like George Clinton once said, ‘the funk can not only move, it can remove’. In my opinion, he meant removal in the sense of healing, and the healing power of music is undeniable. With that in mind, I think of ChurchCough as both therapeutic and entertaining the way that they bask in positive outlooks and affirmations. For ChurchCough & Friends, if it’s not obvious by the title, ConductHer and NonsenseSpence called in the help of some fellow like-minded artists to multiply the positive vibes. I’m honored to have been a part of this project alongside Token, Eddie Baty, and Lemur & Dream Puppy. Check it out, share it around, and keep supporting your local creatives!

ConductHer, one half of ChurchCough, has been doubling down on the workload in the midst of producing the group’s upcoming new release. The second workload has involved a handful of San Marcos-based female musicians collaborating to examine the feminine mystique and sexuality in the Information Age. Female Masturbation, co-curated by Token, features contributions from Lemur & Franks, Brandix and Rachel Williams. After a recent successful album release show, the duo is looking to spread the word about the project, so definitely give it a listen and a share.

The theme of this week seems to be positive affirmations. The latest to broadcast the importance of them is the dynamic duo ChurchCough, located in San Marcos. With the help of Token, the trio gets down to some core insight on the cyclical nature of nature via observations, allusions to positive affirmations that already exist in the sphere of pop culture, and straight-forward testimonials of personal experience in their day to day walks. Billie Jean is a strong lead single for the upcoming album, which will feature collaborations with a wide range of artists (including yours truly). Add that bit of wonderful cover art from Candid (Eddie Baty), and it really will have you wondering…
Is this real or all a dream…?
