Dreaming Destiny :: Chief and TheDoomsdayDevice Drops ‘Money From Home’ Visuals

After many years of doing Chief and TheDoomsdayDevice videos totally solo (one-man crew), it was nice to finally be able to work with someone else for the production side of things.  That someone else was the incredibly talented independent filmmaker Jeffrey Garcia of Dream-Atomic Productions.  A fellow member of the San Marcos Cinema ClubMoney From Home was the opportunity for us to make something that would stand up to the quality of other independent work out there.  I had faith in the song and faith in the vision, and I knew that I could edit something strong together.  Jeffrey came through on the photography, and even lended a handful of solid ideas.  I am very happy with the effort, and very proud of the result.  Share it, and spread the word.

Real Talk :: Tee Double and QuiteTrillWorldwide Talk ‘Black Mics Matter’

You already know the drill.  Tee Double is an advocate for Austin music, and a legend in his own right.  Mirage512‘s brainchild QuiteTrillWorldwide is an outlet for education and social awareness.  Black Mics Matter is a statement about these turbulent times we are living in, how not much has changed, and how we need to find understanding in order to move forward.  Give it a watch, and give the compilation a listen.

In light of the recent killings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castille, the shootings of police officers in Dallas and Baton Rouge, and the all too familiar pattern of these events with no end in sight, Kinetic Global mastermind Tee Double decided to do what he could to bring some awareness to these situations.  The result is The Black Mics Matter Project, a compilation of Texas hip hop artists and bands that are sharing their perspective on this message of police brutality and equal rights.  The lineup is heavy with talent, the compilation is free to download, and donations are being taken for future projects and events via the GoFundMe page.  Do your part for this important time in our existence, because it has repercussions that will be felt for generations to come.

Esoteric Clerics :: ‘Barbaric Rhetoric’ Video Drops

When Butcher Bear reached out to me for a guest verse spot on This Is How The Game Gets You Played, I was honored.  When I heard the final version of Barbaric Rhetoric, with BoomBaptist added on, I was blown away.  Then, when Butcher Bear reached out to us for a Karan Kapoor directed video, I was very much excited.  We shot it, shopped it, and I’m glad to say that it has now hit the digital airwaves.  I could not be happier to share this video with everyone, and I’m looking forward to future collaborations with all of these guys.

Sound Alchemy :: Chief and TheDoomsdayDevice Drops A New ‘Mixtape’

a1015581673_10

There’s a new ‘mixtape’ out from Chief and TheDoomsdayDevice, and clearly, someone has been watching too much Game Of Thrones.  This 3rd installment has been dubbed The Night Is Dark And Full Of Terrorsand it is a slight departure from the normal ‘mixtapes’ Chief Doomsday has dropped.  This one is presented like a radio broadcast, and it’s comprised totally of blends and remixes, minus the rap remakes of songs (I did not find them necessary this go-round).  Enjoy the listen, and thanks for the support!

Forever Young :: Focus On Old Man Skateboards

Whether or not you still do it, if you ever loved skateboarding, you know that the urge to skate will almost certainly never be extinguished.  Some may let reason and logic keep them off of their boards, while some (myself included) will probably continue to skate in some shape or form until we are no longer able to walk.

The homeboy J-Kid, out of Dallas, falls into the latter category as well.  After being inspired by Braille Skateboarding, and Lance‘s journey to improve as a skater long after being out of his teenage years, Old Man Skateboards was born.  This movement is meant to be a source of inspiration for anyone who thinks it’s too late to jump back in (or even start in) the world of skateboarding.  Give the socials a follow, and join on in the journey!

Staying Power :: Mirage (@Mirage512) Drops ‘Till The End’ Video

Austin MC Mirage is continuing #TheAmeliorationCollection with the subtly powerful and moving Till The End.  Over some very solid and smooth production by Trill GatesMirage waxes poetically about the importance of longevity in the hip-hop culture, and his efforts to express that through his career and his art.  Bonus trivia: he hit me up on the edit for this one.

Full Spectrum :: Unicycle Football League Gets The Discovery 360 Treatment

Not too long ago, The Discovery Channel visited the Unicycle Football League with a special set of cameras to capture the entire spectrum of athletes and fans.  Yours truly was on DJ duty that day, so if you swirl things around, you’ll see me chilling and spinning tunes for my favorite local sport.  This is truly a one of a kind experience, these 360 videos.

Pirate Signals :: Chief And TheDoomsdayDevice’s ‘Iron Maiden Voyage’

Anyone who knows Chief and TheDoomsdayDevice knows that the visual element is equally important to the sound in my eyes.  There has always been this obsession with pirate signals and overriding broadcasts, seeing as I grew up in an age where everything wasn’t digital.  Add that with a heavy dose of being slightly obsessive about mind-control, and you’ve got the ingredients for Iron Maiden Voyage, the latest in my attempt to make the visual content match the rate of audio output.  Enjoy this bad boy, because I definitely feel like it’s a benchmark moment in my audio-visual history.
