I could give you a breakdown of GRID SQUID Entertainment, or I could let them tell it to you, up close and personal.

In preparation for the upcoming release of the instrumental project Slow Burnout, and the as of yet untitled new solo project, I decided it was time to drop another ‘mixtape’. I locked myself down in the studio for a weekend, and after a handful of marathon sessions, I created a follow-up to A Working Class Hero (Is Something To Be). The latest installment in my series of ‘mixtapes’, Nothing Gold Can Stay is further exploration into the musical influences I embrace.

from the digital desk of IKE:
“The Paradise Lost Tapes is a collection of songs that will not be included on the official Paradise LP release, for a variety of reasons. As with Paradise, the entire project was written by IKE (Soul 20/20 | Los Angeles, CA), produced by Haris Q (LNS Crew | Austin, TX), co-produced by IKE, and mixed and mastered by Shawn Dell (Action Figures Music | Austin, TX). The album features Laws, Kydd Jones, Khaleel, and more.”

You never know when an artist is going to zone out and channel some realness for you on stage… that’s the beauty of when a passionate artist like Ceschi is given the chance to spill his soul in front of a crowd. At this past SXSW, he performed Beauty For Bosses off of the recently released Broken Bone Ballads, an album I am very much looking forward to taking in. Mad props to Fake Four for keeping things unflinchingly real in this world of falsification.

After lots of work, Austin songbird Alesia Lani has released her debut album First Impression. A wonderfully reflective piece of art, the release was recently celebrated at Empire Control Room. You can catch the album on all major platforms, including Spotify and iTunes, but definitely take a second to check out the celebration.

Back when I first heard Click-Clack‘s Housework II, one of the standout moments was the track Visions, featuring Cap’n Kirk of the Austin hip-hop massive SubKulture Patriots. Hearing Kirk on Click-Clack‘s production really had me wanting to hear more. Here we are, a few months later, and FMBO e’klektik has touched down. I will have to return for a full review in the near future, but my initial listening sessions have been thoroughly enjoyable. Check it out for yourselves, and don’t forget to share it with others.

My friends have been fans of Houston, TX soul outfit The Suffers for years, and I know that my friends have great musical taste. Their collective taste was recently validated by David Letterman, and hopefully soon the world will recognize.

Austin super-collective Sip Sip recently showed up on KUTX recently to do a live performance of their song Cold Sore Wars. The song is definitely a good representation of the band.. it covers a lot of sonic ground. Enjoy!
