Forever Heavy :: Butcher Bear And AADM OUR HATLEY Declare ‘All Hail The New Boss, Just Like The Old Boss’

The first video from Butcher Bear‘s masterpiece This Is How The Game Gets You Played is truly a psychedelic experience.  Executed brilliantly by imagesmith Karan Kapoor, the AADM OUR HATLEY collaboration All Hail the New Boss, Just Like the Old Boss is already a sonic journey in its own right.  The added element of the visuals brilliantly matches the song’s texture and mysterious mood.  Definitely worth repeat viewings.

We’ve Arrived :: Tee Double Speaks On Austin And Its Hip Hop Scene

Austin hip hop living legend Tee Double is definitely a wholly reliable source for the history, current state and hopeful direction of the city’s hip hop scene.  This interview, while not new, is still quite relevant, and the ideas/information imparted to whomever comes across this video are spot on.  Dig it and dig it good, straight from the mouth of The Hometown KidThe Lonestar, the amazing emcee/prodcuer/diplomat Tee Double.

Paying Dues :: OVRLD Premiers Magna Carda SXSW Documentary

Last year, OVRLD followed Austin hip-hop favorites Magna Carda around for a wild SXSW.  The band had 7 shows slated for 7 nights, and if you know anything about SXSW, you know it doesn’t take long for things to get wild.  Where’s The Moon? allows you to enjoy watching a band maintain their focus, direction, and keeping their eye on the prize during everyone’s new favorite Spring Break destination in the ‘industry’.

Skewed Perspectives :: Kryptol Haze Speaks On ‘Beautiful People’

One of the fun parts about curating a website is discovering things you weren’t aware of, and seeing that Austin has been my playing field for decades, I know there is no lack of creative energy in my sphere.  Kryptol Haze was a recent discovery I stumbled upon, and he is further proof of the diversity of Southern hip-hop.  Grind Life Films provided a nice, dark atmosphere for Beautiful People (dig the ode of inspiration at the end).

Good People :: Hyder and Pip Demascus ‘Won’t Back Down’

It’s mind-blowing to me that an individual like Donald Trump would ever be considered for president, let alone a front-runner.  Right out of the gate he put out disparaging remarks about Hispanic Americans.  As a minority, this definitely rubbed me the wrong way, and clearly I am not the only one.  Hyder, with a little assistance from Pip Demascus of MDK (Mindz of a Different Kind), make sure that the pride they take in their culture and heritage is heard crystal clear in the single/music video for Won’t Back Down.  Dig it and dig it good.
