Stolen Moment :: MDK’s Blackchyl Brings The ‘Flame’

Mindz of a Different Kind is definitely one of the strongest collectives in Austin‘s hip hop scene, but often, the individual efforts of each member are overlooked.  Blackchyl recently made an attempt to broaden the scope of how MDK is perceived by dropping a solo track and video.  Check out Flame, and share it with other heads.  And as always, support local and indie music.

Black Rock Matters :: AFROPUNK Mixtape #005 – Midnight School

Lots of good stuff on here from artists you know, and artists you aren’t familiar with yet.  Added bonus, the homies BLXPLTN round out this particular section.  Worth the time it’ll take to introduce your ears to this.

High Society Functions :: DeLano Taylor’s ‘Fine Dining… & Breathing’

My introduction to DeLano Taylor was via DDotElles and his recent batch of creative output.  While Elles is truly a gifted lyricists, it was equally impressive hearing the production he chose to rap over, and Taylor‘s music was definitely standout quality.  Fine Dining… & Breathing is a testament to the fact the Taylor‘s music can hold its own, without MC accompaniment.  This project is definitely worth your time and your download, and the word should be spread far and wide about this music.

More Fire :: Spit Gemz Brings ‘Godly Features’

Spit Gemz  is a beast with the bars.  Ill on a level that most MCs have forgotten about these days.  Dig the new album Godly Features, and as a bonus, watch him get down with Sway, Headkrak and Michael Rappaport recently on Sway’s Universe.

Learning To Walk, Again :: Chief and TheDoomsdayDevice’s First Instrumental Album, ‘Slow Burnout’

I have tried many times to create an instrumental album… many concepts have reached different levels of conception, only to die on the vine.  Slow Burnout marks a first step in the right direction… no new ground is being broken here, but I am happy to have notched another first in the Chief and TheDoomsdayDevice belt.
