Pirate Signals :: Chief And TheDoomsdayDevice’s ‘Iron Maiden Voyage’

Anyone who knows Chief and TheDoomsdayDevice knows that the visual element is equally important to the sound in my eyes.  There has always been this obsession with pirate signals and overriding broadcasts, seeing as I grew up in an age where everything wasn’t digital.  Add that with a heavy dose of being slightly obsessive about mind-control, and you’ve got the ingredients for Iron Maiden Voyage, the latest in my attempt to make the visual content match the rate of audio output.  Enjoy this bad boy, because I definitely feel like it’s a benchmark moment in my audio-visual history.

Proper Notice :: KB The Boo Bonic’s ‘U Ain’t Kno’ Video Out Now

KB the Boo Bonic and The Moon Guys are becoming quite the compelling team on the music video front.  KB carries herself like the champ she is in all of their videos, and The Moon Guys put together videos that make her look like the star she’s destined to be.  U Ain’t Know falls right in line with the upward trajectory of the rest of the work.  Beautiful aerial shots, wonderful performance spaces and a nice mellow tone make this another winner in their catalog.

Patiently Waiting :: A Heartfelt Tribute To Triple Crown

Many wonderful souls grazed the hallowed stage of Triple Crown‘s former location in San Marcos, TX.  That location is currently under development as the town prepares itself for its first building over 3 stories tall that isn’t on the Texas State campus.  Meanwhile, Triple Crown new location rumors have been buzzing all around the town.  While we all wait for what we know will be its triumphant return, CPC Films and SMFC Productions have been working on a documentary to show homage to some of those good times from the past.

In the immediate days after the closing of Triple Crown, up to the date it was finally completely demolished, many musicians would gather in front of the location to sing songs and reminisce about the good times.  This video is an attempt to capture the spirit of those gatherings, and it does it quite well.

Digital Resurrection :: ‘Return Prophets’ By Heroes Finds The Internet

a0428887257_10

The central Texas area has never been a stranger to massive amounts of talent, and that goes for all creative and expressive cultures.  Right smack in-between Austin and San Antonio lies the rapidly growing small town of San Marcos.  Back in the 2000s, there was a massive boom of talented rock, folk and hip-hop acts that hit the scene, and one of the premier acts was Heroes.  This hip-hop collective of OMNIIIDusty Grin and Tone of the Cosmos brought some of the most insightful and infectious tunes around.

Return Prophets was a love letter to that creative scene and moment in time.  With guest spots by songbird Sarah Lamb, hip-hop underground legend Josh Martinez, and members of The Word Association on multiple tracks, this album was a celebration.  Now, we celebrate it finding the digital light of day, forever stored online for future generations.

Catch-23 :: ‘My People’ Audio-Visuals From @Mirage512

I’ve known my man Mirage for a long time now.. nearly half my life.  He’s one of my original Austin inspirations for transitioning from hip hop fan to hip hop participant.  Over the years, we’ve kept in touch and watched one another evolve.

Recently, he hit me up to edit a music video for him, which I am very excited about.  Then, yesterday, he dropped this self-directed gem on us.  My People is a dope song, and the video is a well-crafted visual reflection of it.  Simple, yet strong, with some wonderful framing for some honest performances.  Dig it and dig it good.
