Southern Exposure :: KB The Boo Bonic And Tow Down Connect On ‘I Seent It’

KB the Boo Bonic has been getting up in big ways lately.  Her latest album, Goldilox, definitely hit the ground running, and the second single is a solid one.  I Seent It features Tow Down of the Screwed Up Click, and it’s a nice combination of super catchy track laced with perfectly placed rhymes.  The Moon Guys come through on another wonderful video, and yet another solid piece of work is added to a growing catalouge of solid and long lasting output.  Stay hustling, and we’ll stay supporting.

Unadulterated Raw :: Ciggy Burns Embraces ‘The Slow Burn’

a2149913233_10

One of the aspects of hip-hop (especially southern hip-hop) that doesn’t seem to get explored nearly as much as it should is the concept album.  It takes a lot to step outside of your comfort zone, I do admit, but it also allows  you a chance to explore realms you may not even know you were capable of thriving within.

Enter Ciggy Burns (bka EVOLVE1981), and his latest magnum-opus, The Slow Burn.  It’s not that EVOLVE didn’t already spit dope raps, but Ciggy Burns allows him the opportunity to be brutally honest with the bars.  A chance to step into those human depths some of us may fear or not understand, and grow the poetry out that much more.  This is hella dope.  Keep it coming!

Life Experience :: JMac The Dragon And Crew Experience ‘The Human Elements’

San Marcos, just like it’s big brother city Austin, is showing a wealth of creative and talented folks on the verge of making a name for themselves in 2017.  JMac the Dragon‘s recent release, The Human Element, was a wonderful exploration of the ups and downs of our daily walk, and the video for the title track is a wonderful piece of art that reflects the sentiments of the album.  Featuring a host of guest verses from Aye Cue, Frank Villa and CA the Commoner (who also directed the video), this track and video are instant classics.  Dope for real.

Bars Deluxe :: Ciggy Burns Celebrates ‘Sweet Morning Lights’

Raw raps.  That’s what the Boom Bap family is all about.  The latest from the collective set to wreck eardrums is Ciggy Burns, and Sweet Morning Lights, the lead single off of the upcoming EP The Slow Burn, is one hell of a warning shot.  Do yourself a favor and listen… get hip quick.

Raw Deluxe :: 36″ Wheels Drop ‘Spit On It’

a4217570399_10

San Marcos has produced a thriving scene of musicians that have seamlessly blended the folk, bluegrass and punk aesthetic into a sound so natural it’s surprising it is not a thriving sound already.  One of the frontrunners of this scene is the raucous outfit known as 36″ Wheels.  Last winter, they hunkered down in the studio, and the result is their debut release, Spit On It.  Done in 2 days of broken strings, fighting through illness and leaving it all on the studio floor, this project is one that will remain with you long after the last notes of the last song have faded, and it will certainly enhance your experience of their live show.

The Evils :: Smackola Promises ‘A Better Me’

The weight of the world can drag even the strongest man down.  An inherent part of closeness is trust, and trust is a delicate balance to maintain.  On A Better MeSmackola examines what it takes in order to navigate through a world that seemingly does not care, and his examination results in a simple statement : bettering yourself will aid you in your daily walk.  Wise words as always from a true living legend.

Don’t Panic :: …&more… Release ‘Existence Is Futile’

a4176726378_10

Sometimes, pure skill and talent simply cannot be denied.  Enter Scuare and no1mportant, two MC/producers who individually are capable of doing great things.  When combined, however, these two work on a wonderfully harmonic resonance.  Both cats have unique, rapid-fire and melodic styles that are similar enough for the duo to make total sense, but different enough from one another to compliment one another effortlessly.

A statement from …&more… concerning their amazing sophomore release, Existence Is Futile :

“In many ways it’s a celebration of a loss of ultimate purpose and growth through acceptance. The Star Trek metaphor helps to illustrate that notion through what we think is a pretty comical lens.

Outer Space is often juxtaposed with samples and lyrics that relate to how people view sex and relationships.  These themes represent opposing points on the spectrum, and serve as anchors from which to expand.”

Take the time to dive into this wonderful piece of art.  There is no sign of a sophomore jinx here.

Looking Back :: The Final .::liquidstereoproject Show

It took many many years.  It took the rounding up of footage from multiple cameras.  It took finally getting an editing setup that could handle the magnitude of footage it would be forced to render, edit and so on.  And, after all of those hurdles, it took a full 24 hours to get it on YouTube, but it’s finally here and ready for the world : the final .::liquidstereoproject show.  This is comprised of footage collected from Atom ToddDave Brewer and myself.  Rather than choose the best moments, I decided to share it all.  The audio (and some of the video) is a little choppy, seeing as this was well before HD, but the feeling shines through.  I know I always say enjoy, but really and truly, I hope you do enjoy this… we left it all on the stage that night.

Love Games :: SniperShot Drops Amazing Video For ‘8-Bit’

My main man SniperShot dropped an extremely wonderful video about love and being yourself, and just in time for Valentine’s Day to boot.  8-Bit not only tells, it shows, and both expressions will stay with you for a long time, guaranteed.  This is 100% DO NOT SLEEP ON material.
