Fall Footwork :: Poolboi Blu Drops Surprise ‘318!’ Single

As a longtime friend and fan of poolboi blu, I’ve enjoyed seeing his growth as a songwriter, recording artist and performer, but I’d be lying to you if I didn’t admit that the foundation of my fandom is his production.  My earliest exposure to his work (outside of the stellar and slept on cloudy w/ a chance, which he sang on and produced) were his beat tapes like potpourri.fine dining… & breathing. and Chocolat, but as he bridged over into the aforementioned cloudy era that transitioned into ANTSYDIXIE and MASON (not to mention Rain of the Squids and a recent single run), I was preparing for poolboi blu to go full evolution into his version of a traditional recording artist.  jubilee showed me he hadn’t lost his production chops, but the recent 318! drop is a remind to me (and everyone else) that poolboi blu is still dropping bangers that will work in your club and party mixes.  Enough with my impromptu history lesson though… go check the single, run the numbers up, comment on the track for maximum engagement and share it around just because!

Blu Thunder :: Poolboi Blu Shows Up And Shows Out For ‘Sound In Color’ Part 2

With the possibility of COVID-19 taking a downturn stateside, a slow return to whatever will constitute the new normal could happen if people are responsible.  With this scenario in mind, I’ve been spending my time thinking about the inevitable transition back into whatever the live music scene looks like moving forward, and I get curious about who’s been complacent versus who’s been working and staying ready to jump in the game once it’s on.  Clearly, poolboi blu is hungry to get his momentum going again, and while he’s always in the studio, his recent appearance on Sound In Color Part 2 is proof that he’s stayed stage ready as well.  In the span of about half an hour, poolboi covers old and new tracks from JubileeRain of the SquidsAntsy and more, and thanks to the efforts of Andres MeloJulio FigueroaEvan K of Seize the Means Productions and Abel Ibarra, the Dktr N9ne & Friends Present production of Sound In Color looks like a million bucks.  Definitely check it out, give it all the like, comment, subscribe and notification bell action, and spread it around so your people can do the same.

Personal Reflection :: Poolboi Blu’s ‘Mason’ Hits The Online Airwaves

a3258130168_10

The homie poolboi blu is back at it again, although in all honesty, he never really stops the creative vibes from flowing.  After dropping ANTSY and DIXIE, both of which gave us a bit of insight into poolboi‘s headspace and motivations, the trilogy of personal reflection finds completion with MASON, an incredibly strong balance of vibrant beats and sharp lyrics that not only display his influences, but are some of the best representations of how far he’s come along in the past year or so.  With poolboi already posting that he’s in the studio working on a follow-up, I’ll add MASON to the rotation as I wait for the next drop, which knowing poolboi, will probably be sooner than later.  Check out the project, cop it if you’ve got a few bucks, and spread it around for others to get hip to.

Introductory Rate :: Poolboi Blu Teases ‘DIXIE’ Release With First Single, ‘Nites & Weekends’

Just when I think I have poolboi blu figured out, he goes and throws me a curveball.  After a successful run with ANTSY that showcased his creative and brand growth, his confidence grew visibly with each live show and mix release.  In my mind, with DIXIE in the queue and ready to go, I’d figure poolboi would’ve dropped a track flexing on everyone, but instead, we get the highly polished Nites & Weekends, a dancier track featuring guest vocalist SiCK THoTS.  I’m surprised in all the best ways, pleasantly so, and my excitement for what poolboi blu has in store for DIXIE has just multiplied.  Check out Nites & Weekends, leave a like and a comment, and spread it around for others to check out as well!

Mellow Hype :: Poolboi Blu Steps Up To The Director’s Chair For ‘Lounge’ Video

When it comes to being an independent musician/artist, you enjoy collaborative efforts, but you quickly learn that the key to putting out songs/videos at a rate that works for you is taking over in all capacities.  poolboi blu has had the beats and rhymes on lock for a minute, but 2019 is showing that he has a visual side as well.  His first music video from ANTSY is the self-shot and edited jam that is lounge, and it features poolboi in elements that he is quite familiar with… home, Bad Ingredients Records, the Yellow Store, and even in the proximity of a pool.  As much as I like working with poolboi on the video tip, if this is an indication of what he can do with no experience, I’m all for seeing what his visual eye develops into.  Give this one a like and a share, and be sure to leave a comment as well.

Funky Dividends :: Poolboi Blu Drops ‘Shmoney’

a2009000329_10

If feels like poolboi blu just blessed us with ANTSY, but clearly, he is not one to rest on his laurels.  After ‘taking January off’ like a lot of us creatives did (taking the month off being tongue in cheek, as we were still putting in work), poolboi blu is back in full swing for February with a follow-up track drop to his latest entry in the sincere mix series.  The track, shmoney, is a Cardi B flip with the distinct characteristics of both the sampler and the sampled present.  As a bit of a bonus, the mutual homie Red Comet stepped up with a video flip as well that perfectly suits the track.

Check out both of these gems, do the appropriate amount of downloading, commenting, sharing and all that, and don’t forget to support your local creatives!

You already know what it is.  poolboi blu drops a new volume in the sincere series, and folks should take notice.  For sincere (volume 007)poolboi blu decided to focus on diversity even more so than usual, in terms of tempo, tone and cut selection.  The result is another seamless mix, but one with plenty of dynamics, and not just for flash, but rises and falls that take you on a bit of a journey through a handful of newer songs and current favorites.  If you haven’t been lucky enough to catch poolboi blu live lately, or if you’ve just been stuck on Antsy, don’t sleep on sincere (volume 007), because the series is alive and well.

Glow Up :: Poolboi Blu Releases ‘ANTSY’

a0684478910_10

Over the course of the past year, the homie poolboi blu has been cooking up tons of production, releasing beats, mixes and collaborations steadily from month to month.  All of this appears to have been foundation building in preparation for the release of ANTSY, his latest solo project.  A handful of these tracks have seen the light of day over the summer, but hearing them as a collective works extremely well.  Add to this the fact that poolboi blu is becoming a bit more of a vocalist, and it makes ANTSY a perfect closure for 2018 and an indicator of where things are going for beyond.  Don’t sleep on this project, seriously.
