The Bargain :: Heroes Die Young Release ‘Painful Truth’ Single

San Marcos-based rock band Heroes Die Young are looking to make an impact in the vibrant central Texas music scene the old-fashioned way : strong songwriting, old school promotion and (hopefully one day soon) live performances for new and old fans.  Their latest (and seventh) single, Painful Truth, is a new take on the ballad, eschewing the call for the best parts of a significant other and instead opting for any and all truths.  The high energy soundtrack matches the urgency and nervous nature the lyrics lay out perfectly.  Don’t be surprised if a song like this one gets the music video treatment at some point.  In the meantime, like the song, leave a comment if you dig it, and share it around for all to enjoy!

Resonance Rap :: Levi Deadman Goes Esoteric With ‘Patient Zero (Najar Media)’

For those of us that have been in shelter-in-place for what is pushing 9 months now, there are two (in my opinion) proper ways to approach it : circle and assess your creative wagons, or take the time for deep introspection.  It seems that Levi Deadman is on a similar page based on his latest single and video, Patient Zero (Najar Media).  Levi Deadman‘s new banger focuses on the impact his simple statement of being alive and aware can cause, and in the way that leaders do, the single serves as an example for others to follow.  Add a bit of down south, psychedelic, indie-level imagery to the mix, and you’ve got yourself a winner on all fronts.  Dig the video, leave a like and a comment if you enjoy it, and share it around for others to do the same.

Talking Shop :: Audio Commentary Tracks Now Available For ‘REPOSSESSION’ and ‘The Perpendicular’

For the 2 – 7 people out there in the world curious about the Chief and TheDoomsdayDevice process of short film-making, I have released audio commentary tracks for REPOSSESSION and The Perpendicular.  Myself, along with guests Troy Baham Jr., Tony Berg and Steve Jones discuss several aspects of the production of both films.

Bonus Truths :: TrumpCard Collaborates With Chief And TheDoomsdayDevice For ‘Shithole’

As painful as it is to sit back and watch the ills and injustices that are currently taking place (and have taken place for longer than I’ve been on this Earth), you find yourself in between the rock of silent, sad acceptance and the hard place of trying to clarify emotionally intense reactions in order to share them as sound, logical points.  Luckily, I find myself able to work though most issues with my pen, and it didn’t take much convincing when The SCROTUS reached out to me for inclusion on Shithole, one of the lead singles off of TrumpCard‘s upcoming second release, Cult 45.  Rather than put on a performance, The SCROTUS decided that reality spoke more than enough for the sentiments shared in this song, hence a video comprised of news and protest footage juxtaposed against images of American ‘values’.  This video is not an easy watch, but it is an important one, especially if we are looking to change this reality in any way, shape or form.  Please watch, please share, and please do not be silent against what you feel is unjust or an injustice.

‘San Marcos-based electronic producer Kinder intertwines elements of jazz, funk, new age & house on his new album entitled MG. Applying his background as a bassist and his ear for lovely chord progressions, Kinder creates a lane of his own in the GiD catalogue.

Utilizing live instrumentation & a little programming, he gives his sound a unique and organic feel. The album title MG is derived from his heavy implementation of the classic Moog synthesizer that is found all over the release. After using the Moog for years, Kinder wanted to take a deeper dive into the iconic piece of gear. The goal was to apply it in a different manner than he has in the past.’

Storm Session :: Poolboi Blu Drops ‘Rain Of The Squids’ Project

There’s no stopping poolboi blu when it comes to output… matter of fact, it seems like poolboi blu is outpacing the technology, which is struggling to keep up with the output of ideas.  Despite the short amount of time since the release of Mason, Rain of the Squids stands firm as its own project, and not an echo of the trilogy that Mason was part of.  The beats are a bit lusher, but they still manage to keep that signature aesthetic and vibe the has become poolboi blu‘s signature.  The writing really stands out, with many different styles and deliveries presented that cover a wide range of topics in a short run, including references to Watchmen, Black Mirror, and a many more (some obvious, some layered).  Definitely don’t sleep on this one, share it around, and donate if you can.

Joyful Noise :: Buzz N’ Bangs Release ‘Going Places’

April 20th is and always has been a day of celebration, and when it rolled around for 2020, it seems like Buzz N’ Bangs had an idea to make it extra special.  Fans of rock in the central Texas area had a reason to rejoice as Going Places hit the internet airwaves.  The duo captures all of their high energy and wonderful sense of humor on the project, dropping a collection of original songs and two covers that round out the proceedings.  After approaching nearly ten years on hiatus, it is certainly refreshing to know that the duo is alive and kicking, and hopefully the pair still has a few albums left in them.  If summer rolls around and we’re allowed to go outside again, don’t be surprised if you hear this one out in the streets.  Check it out, share it around for others to enjoy, and if you have a few bucks, go ahead and cop it.

Sweet Nothings :: Poolboi Blu Drops ‘Flex With You’ Single

It’s been said before, and I’ll say it again : poolboi blu is always up to something, and always working towards something.  After dropping a trio of projects in the past 18sh months, you’d think that there would be some sort of low-key period, but poolboi blu is having none of that.  His latest single, Flex With You, is a mellow track with poolboi‘s version of R&B energy… propping someone up, showering them with gifts and affection, and making moves in tandem.  Like the lion’s share of his work, this one is on point, so definitely check it out, download it, leave a buck or two if you can, and share it around!

Broadcast News :: TrumpCard Submits ‘Cult 45’ To NPR Tiny Desk Contest

With an extension announced on the NPR Tiny Desk Contest due to social distancing measures having been issued, many bands are taking advantage of the opportunity.  TrumpCard, who has been very busy in the recording studio as of late, took the time to collaborate with Christopher Paul Cardoza to record an entry for Cult 45, another blistering examination of our president’s cult of personality he has created.  The song speaks loudly and clearly for itself, and Cardoza captured the essence of the band’s biting political satire perfectly.  Let’s hope this one makes some noise during the contest, as this message is as timely as any that will probably be submitted.  Leave a like, a comment, and share it around to help the numbers and buzz grow!
