Slippery Slope :: Mad1ne Reunites With Blazy Green For Stellar Concept Album ‘The Liquor Effect’

Mad Real :: MAD1NE Brings More Heat With ‘Respect Is Non Negotiable’

MAD1NE has been busy this year, and he’s driving that point home with Respect Is Non Negotiable, his fourth release of the year.  For this project, he tapped recent collaborator Blazy Green to handle production duties exclusively, and outside of a guest appearance from Jamar Equality, we get a quick but powerful burst of the MAD1NE lyricism that he has become known for, full of inspirational and education gems infused with high style and and a forceful delivery.  If you’re a fan of that signature San Antonio hip-hop sound that is keeping the true school aesthetic alive, then don’t sleep on Respect Is Non Negotiable.

Monarch Flow :: MAD1ONE Drops ‘King Leo Green’ LP

As a 1980’s baby, the true-school era of 1990’s hip-hop will always hold a special place in my heart.  It is this very respect and nostalgia that makes MAD1ONE one of my favorite Texas MCs, point blank period.  Dude sounds like he was plucked directly from that era, and it doesn’t hurt that his go-to producer Ruler Why has a production style that echoes the very same era.  For his latest project, King Leo GreenMAD1ONE employed Ruler Why and Kizer, along with a closing track by Furthermore, for production purposes, and guest verses by Jamar EqualityBlazy Green and Kizer help expand on the topics of royalty, power and earned respect.  If you like quality hip-hop, you’re probably already aware of MAD1ONE, but if not, get hip, support the new project, and spread it around for the masses to do the same.

One of the blessings of having been on the Austin hip-hop scene for so many years has been watching new artists pop up generation after generation and hold down the city.  Over the past few years, one of the artists that has been impossible to ignore is the homie Ben Buck, a young, hungry MC with a penchant for intricate and elaborate beatboxing.  After a flurry of singles over the past 6 months or so, Buck closed out 2019 with the release of KILROY, a proper collection of work that represents Buck‘s skill level and vision.  The project is a collection of singles, live band demos, and even a live show snippet, with a vast collection of collaborators.  On the production side, Ruler WhyFlobamaWiardonUGGOJarvBRKCHK and even Ben Buck himself drop beats, and on the lyrical side, prolific MCs like Myka 9AFROJamar EqualityChi ClopzFlobama and Jarv all drop high quality guest bars.  Don’t front on a legend in the making… check out the project on your favorite streaming service or storefront, and support your local creatives!

You can always count on Ruler Why and company to bring you the dopeness.  I recently discovered the new single XZACT by Lords of Ale (Blazy Jamar Equality), confirmed its banger status, and made a mental note to put it on the site.  This morning, when I went to look it up, I also discovered Blazy‘s recent full-length release Solar Rays, and decided on site to add it to the post.  I’m looking forward to digging into the full-length as well in the very near future.  Big ups to Ruler Why for holding down the raw sounds.

Epic Return :: ‘DOOMWAR 2’ Now Available

a0483446655_10

Here’s another one from Jamar Equality and Ruler Why Recordings.  DOOMWAR was Jamar Equality dropping dope lyrics over dope MF DOOM beats.. and if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right?  Consider DOOMWAR 2 the sequel in all of the best ways possible.  Loving these small doses of dopeness, and looking forward to Ruler and Jamar possibly collaborating on a project of original rhymes and production.. we can hope, right?

The Dream Team :: Jamar Equality And Ruler Why Drop ‘(F)Lex Luthor’

Jamar Equality won’t run out of bars.  Reiner Hass is on deck this time for providing the production backdrop.  The result is raw rap with an equally raw soundtrack.  Definitely for fans of real hip hop.  Cop that, because it’s free, and pay them back by spreading the word.

Influential Props :: ‘DOOMWAR’ Unleashed By Jamar Equality

MF Doom is without a doubt one of the most influential MC/producers of the past 20 years.  His influence is heard coast to coast in the sound of many hip-hop acts.  Sometimes, direct credit has to be given, and Jamar Equality recently teamed up with Ruler Why to provide us listeners with some new verbal heat over some familiar tunes.  Maybe if we make enough noise, there will be more to follow.
