Real Life :: ‘Adult Rappers’ Focuses On Blue Collar MCs

Over the years, YouTube has become an important source of information and inspiration in my life.  My man Tee Double recently posted a documentary in a forum we share time in that piqued my interest.  Adult Rappers is a look at the ‘working class’ rapper… the kind of performer who has to write and perform, regardless of fame level.  Some reach higher plateaus than others, but most all of us take a very similar journey through this crazy life that hip-hop has provided us.  Definitely worth your time and attention.

Time Tested :: JMAC The Dragon’s ‘Fade Away’ Visuals

Fade Away, the latest audio-visual from JMAC the Dragon, is a testament to holding your ground in a fickle and ever-changing culture.  The song, featuring support from JasThePhilo, wholly captures the essence of being an MC simply because it’s tied to every fiber of your being, like a calling.  While others come and go, get caught up in the fads and then move on, there are a handful of us that will take part in hip hop culture through some aspect until our last breath.  Shout out to CA the Commoner on the video direction.

Surreal Life :: DDotElles And Carlos Pagan’s ‘efa’

Never let it be said that Austin hip-hop lacks depth.  The latest to provide a gem to the continuum of creation is DDotElles, who connected with director Carlos Pagan to create the meta-documentary efa.

The beauty of this project was its ability to mix sincerity with deeply sarcastically dry humor.  DDotElles has always been appreciative of film (as myself), and the ability to tell this story deeply reflects that.  Echoes of Spinal Tap, comedian Steven WrightThe Real World and more are immediately apparent.  The jokes land sharply, and DDotElles skill and passion are captured.  The home Delano Taylor is also showing some nice comedic chops as well in a wonderful guest appearance.

Don’t sleep.. give it a like, a share, and a comment.  Show love for the creators in our scene.

Memories Released :: The Short Films Of Nicolas Luna

A handful of years ago, when the Austin hip hop scene was experiencing a full-throttle renaissance/resurgence period, one of the standout groups was Parking.  A two-man outfit, Ibriham handled the rhymes while Nicolas Luna got down on production.  I knew that Nicolas and myself shared a love of film, but at that time, I had no idea he had aspirations of creating them.  Cut to a number of years later, and Nicolas is in New York.  During a recent timeline binge on Facebook, I came across a post featuring a YouTube video called 3 Elements.  It was simple, yet powerful, and extremely well put together.  It also turned out to be one of Nicolas Luna‘s many shorts that he recently had uploaded to YouTube.  Here is a playlist of them for you to share and enjoy.

Dark Fantasy :: Dank $inatra Drops ‘Winning’ Video

Winning, the latest visual from Austin (by way of Atlanta) emcee Dank $inatra, is on some gritty vibes.  We’re talking darkness in the daytime gritty.. like the movies we all love.  The song is a banger, and the visuals are strong.  This one is dope, and definitely has the potential to rack up major views.  Looking forward to more quality work from this neck of the woods, hopefully in the near future.

Memory Lane :: ‘The San Martian Project’ Trailer Hits The Internet

It’s hard to be a part of the San Marcos culture and not be familiar with the huge impact the Triple Crown had on the entire scene.  Currently, only the memories of this wonderful bar remain, but The San Martian Project is looking to change that by documenting the history and the stories surrounding this legendary location.  Hopefully this trailer can tide you over until the full project hits the airwaves.

History Lessons :: ‘ATX We Next’ Documentary

One of the true crimes that occurs on any local music scene is the lack of documenting that particular scene’s history.  Legends fade, but a documented path of your journey from the genesis to the present is needed for a true understanding of any particular scene.  Chris ChirpHTE Films and The Fraternity have taken a major step in the right direction with ATX We Next.  A large section of Austin‘s past and present are discussed in this documentary, and hopefully it’s a jumping off point for a deeper exploration of this talent-rich scene.

Not much can be said about this truly captivating visual by Texas artist Kevin Durham without taking away from the experience.  Trust me, Pretty Faces is well worth your time and your shares.

Trill Talk :: ‘They Wrong (Bruh)’ By @Mirage512

Mirage‘s journey through 2016 of bringing us the audio-visual project #TheAmeliorationCollection has been a wonderful journey to witness.  They Wrong (Bruh) marks my second involvement in the editing process, and this song is straight up hot flames.  Arson Optics comes through with a banger on production, and Mirage drops knowledage the only way he knows how.  Highly recommended viewing.

Finer Things :: KB The Boo Bonic Shows ‘I Want That’

The homegirl KB the Boo Bonic has been making tracks lately.  Catching flights, playing shows far away from home, and genuinely taking the steps needed to grow the KB brand.  The latest visual/audio collaboration with The Moon GuysI Want That, is an expression of these latest experiences, and hope that the travels and experiences continue to come with greater abundance.  Another solid win for KB the Boo Bonic.
