Granted Wish :: Virgil Wolfe Tags In Chief And TheDoomsdayDevice For ‘Lovely To Look At’ Remix

Screenshot_1

A month or so ago, Virgil Wolfe debuted a new single (a collaboration with producer Big Lo) titled Lovely To Look At, and it made an impression on me.  It made such an impression, in fact, that I concluded my blog entry on the song by suggesting a remix with myself on it wouldn’t be a bad idea.  Cut to the present time, and what seemed at first like a wild request has become a stark reality.  Lovely To Look At still jams, but now there’s an extra bit of lyrical craftsmanship from yours truly tagged on at the end, and the possibility of more collaborations in the future.  Check out the new version of the track, share it around, and if you really dig it, give it a like and a comment!

Well Connected :: Abuzayed The Free Presents Video For ‘To God From God’

Abuzayed the Free has never been ashamed to explore or talk about her oneness with nature, spirituality and hip-hop.  In her latest music video, a collaboration with La Bu for To God From GodAbuzayed speaks on these specific topics with confidence and love.  Her refrain about ‘making love to the air with her breath’ encapsulates her vast feelings in a nice, easy to digest capsule of wisdom and assertion.  Give this video a like, comment and a share so that you can help spread some much needed positivity around.

Diverse Vibes :: Kinder Drops Mega-Mix With ‘Kinder Medleys Vol. 1’

Screenshot_4

One listen to the original production of Exploded Drawing standout kinder lets you know that his musical palette is diverse and expansive.  His compositions easily touch the bases of electronic, hip-hop, folk and rock sensibilities without over-indulging in any specific genre for too long.  With the recent rainy spell that San Marcos has weathered (no pun intended), kinder took it as an opportunity to dig through his vinyl collection and put together a feature-length mix in the form of kinder medleys vol. 1.  Take a peek at the track listing, or just throw on some headphones and dive in… and be sure to share this one around, give it a like, and leave a comment on your favorite song!

Road Warriors :: Jonathan Brown’s ‘Be Careful’ Video

Now that the summer heat is finally beginning to subside, many of my musical friends are putting together or embarking on their last tours of the year.  Jonathan Brown (based out of New Orleans) is one of those artists that tends to spend almost as much time, if not more, on the road as he does at home.  In light of his recent release Aggressively Vulnerable, and the tour that is currently underway in support of it, Brown put together a video for his Blueprint produced single Be Careful.  The song is a testament to his time spent on the road, his attempts at connections, and the toll that being on the road takes on an artist.  This one is definitely a bonafide classic all around, and the numbers are proportionately proving it.  Definitely give this one a like, a comment and a share, and show support to your independent creatives.

Traveling Sounds :: Butcher Bear And Soundfounder Represent Exploded Drawing On Dublab And CultureRemixed In Los Angeles

On almost a daily basis, the homies from Austin continue to make me proud.  This time, it’s my Exploded Drawing brethren (and co-founders of the movement) soundfounder and Butcher Bear doing it big.  They recently took a trip to Los Angeles to spread the goodness that is Exploded Drawing, and while in the area they made two very important stops for mix sets.  The pair made a stop at CultureRemixed.com for a mix set and an interview, as well as a mix set stop at dublab, both of which are filled with obscure goodness and local tunage.  I’m proud to be a member of the crew, and happy for everything that they’ve accomplished and continue to accomplish… at this point, there’s truly no ceiling for the possibilities in regards to Exploded Drawing and its continued rise.

Animal Instinct :: RC Random Drops ‘Diamond Shine’ With Help From LordKalvin

Houston-based artist LordKalvin has been at it for a few years, but 2018 has marked a transition from musician to full-fledged creative.  One of his recent standout collaborative works is the RC Random banger Diamond Shine, a reflection (no pun intended) about running on all creative cylinders.  The video, directed by LordKalvin, focuses on visual interpretation of the lyrics combined with a couple of well composed performance shots, easily burning the elements into our brain for easy recognition and quick recall, thus upping the replay factor.  This one is definitely a standout, so don’t hesitate to give it a like, a share and a comment.

Passing Daze :: Marshall Anderson And ‘Monday Night’

a3822141756_10

Singer/songwriter Marshall Anderson knows how to tell a tale in song form very well.  After the early 2018 release of his 2nd solo project, Beautiful Infinite Wonderful, it seems Marshall is hitting the ground running again before year’s end in terms of creativity.  Monday Night is a reflection on reflection… a circular prose about standing still and watching the world go by when you aren’t moving forward and leaving the familiar behind.  With its sparse, airy guitar and piano accompaniment, as well as Marshall‘s ethereal vocals, the song reminds me of something you’d hear in a film.  I’m definitely on board to see what his next project holds in store, and if this is an indication of what’s to come, I have faith that it will continue his trend of solid work.

Cosmic Slop :: Upper Reality Goes All In On ‘Holy Mountain Wata’ EP

37385020_2634426139916959_5033797620481392640_n

The lyrical and production stylings of Upper Reality are some of the most genuine and soulful that you will find in the Austin area.  Her sound is reminiscent of quite the handful of heavy hitters… I get Sade and Georgia Anne Muldrow vibes, just to name a couple of comparable acts off the top.  Her production is textured, but allowed to breath at times, and her lyrical offerings fluctuate between down to earth singing and melodic MC’ng.  Holy Mountain Wata, for an EP, is bringing a ton to the table, and is definitely worth your attention.  Give it a like, a listen, a comment and a share for sure.

Brutal Honesty :: JSoulja Stops By Lit Up AV For ‘Talk About It’

Lit Up AV recently welcomed Austin MC and move-maker JSoulja to their studio for a live impromptu performance of his latest single, Talk About It.  The clip is short but powerful, as JSoulja raps and sings about the hurdles one most overcome when hyperfocused on being real with yourself and dedicate to your rise.  His confidence beams through his calm and calculated performance, and his words have impact, as evidenced by the head nods in the adjacent room that are caught on camera.  I’ve heard the name JSoulja on the scene recently, and this little snippet of the talent definitely has me interested in digging deeper… perhaps you should do the same.  Don’t forget to drop a like and a comment on the video, share it if you know others who might dig it too, and always support your local creatives.
