Boogie Nights :: Protextor And Brother Bear’s ‘Not Tonight’ Video Arrives

In anticipation of the American Neon release, partners in crime Protextor and Brother Bear decided to drop a highly entertaining and visually stimulating music video.  Protextor already has a handful of admirable videos under his belt, and with the slight shift in sound direction this upcoming project is taking, it seems fitting that the video for Not Tonight should take on a heightened sense as well.  Director Zack Scott managed to take the familiar confines of Spiderhouse Ballroom and turn it into a glam-style roller disco ready to be rocked out.  Protextor and Brother Bear ooze charisma, and the cast of characters employed to make up the world of the video are perfectly placed.  This one will stick around with you for a while.  As a bonus, the crew even threw in a quick behind the scenes video!  Check them both out, throw some likes and shares around, and always support local.

Life Lessons :: THE PNTHN Drop Video For ‘Skip School’

School is back, but there’s no need to worry.  DC4PREZ of THE PNTHN has some advice for you in the form of Skip School, another dynamite music video from Jeffrey Garcia.  The song is fire, there are some familiar faces and places in the midst of the video, and the whole things looks like a million bucks.  With the upcoming release of the full length project from THE PNTHN (titled [From Disorder…]), I can only imagine that their will be more collaborations of this nature in the works.  I’m gonna keep my eyes and ears open, and here’s to hoping that others do the same.

In the quest to become a better skater, Old Man Skateboards founder Jansen Newcum has been truly pushing and challenging himself.  With each new video he posts, the growth shows, and lately, it seems Jansen is on the verge of some major skill leaps.  He recently posted a pair of videos that show this growth in the form of a couple of online challenges.  He takes part in both a high ollie challenge and a game of switch vs. regular SKATE, and fairs well in both.  Stay tuned to OMS for more inspirational skating, growth, focus and dedication… these practices can be applied to most any aspect of your life (except for the skating part).

Deep Rooted :: Dubb Sicks Releases New Music Video For ‘Dolla $to’

You’d have a challenge on your hands finding a more humble and down to earth MC than Dubb Sicks.  Not many people really and truly embrace their city and their lifestyle in such an honest and forthright manner.  This time around, Dubb embraces the values of living the non-baller glamour life with Dolla $to.  He went to DVZN Media, and the quality of the work speaks for itself.  A banging track and vivid visuals are hard to beat at any level… yet another shining example of how central Texas is killing it in 2017.

Animated Adventure :: SniperShot Drops Awesome Video For ‘Gangsta’

Even in the midst of enlightenment, one can take the time to detour for fun.  SniperShot has shown amazing growth over the past couple of years, and his music video Gangsta comes off like a brief moment of honest celebration.  SniperShot, his dog Hookah, and DJ Manny Pahlooza adventure through a handful of scenarios, eventually leading to an animated crowd getting rocked.  SniperShot called it ‘his eclipse gift to the world’, so why not accept it, like it and share it?

Hazy Daze :: Grin & Bear It Releases ‘God, The Devil, And The Law’

When summer transitions to fall, the days (and the shadows) start to get a little longer.  The heat slowly rolls out, and ushers in an era of slightly less heat.  In addition to the seasons, the musical shift tends to happen as well… the party music starts to take a backseat, and the introspective music starts to take hold right before we all shack up for the winter.  San Marcos-based signer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Corbin Young, with the help of a small rotating ensemble, has helped us all out by dropping a set of songs that will become part of that transitional soundtrack.  Grin & Bear It is the project name, and the release is titled God, the Devil, and the Law.  In the words of the creator himself :

“Here are some things I’ve thought, life is crazy, and to survive it I believe you’ve gotta be a bit crazy yourself.”

Bonus Beats :: Corduroi Drops A Pair Of Unreleased Songs

Sometimes, gold can be found in what was left behind.  Corduroi, one of the more prolific Austin-based beatsmiths, recently dropped a pair of songs that were left off of his last 2 releases, but in tandem, they work very well together.  Rainbow Climber is a lively, upbeat track that seems to pull the listener in tow with it’s non-stop movement.  Cicada’s Song (my personal favorite of the two), has more of a hide and seek feel to it, like chasing shadows, or feeling like someone has just turned a corner out of your view as you follow them.  Both tracks are high quality, and I am happy they are seeing the light of day.  Check them out, share them, and support local art!

Big Moves :: CAPYAC Enlists RuDi Devino For ‘Fade Out’

Austin-based wordsmith RuDi Devino has been having a good run.  After finding success with SubKulture Patriots and Retr0gRaDe, he is continuing to find success as a solo act.  Enter CAPYAC, who have enlisted RuDi for a guest verse on the extremely catchy Fade Out.  The guest verse got merc’d, and hopefully, this will lead to bigger and better things for all parties involved.  Here’s to local artists continuing to make big moves and improving their status.

Clear View :: JSOULJA Drops Visuals For ‘WINDOW’

Everyone who plans on putting together best of lists for 2017 will have their work cut out for them in regards to many musical facets.  JSOULJA, for instance, recently dropped some high quality visuals for an extremely moving song, WINDOW.  The song is gripping, and serves as a true testament to not forcing yourself to accept your circumstances.  The visuals do a wonderful job of reflecting this heaviness in both the performance and narrative stages.  JSOULJA has become yet another artist on my ever-growing radar.  Give this video a like and a share, and support local.

Summer Madness :: Kenny Casanova Drops ‘Poison’ Video

Straight out of the most wonderful version of left field comes Kenny Casanova‘s latest music video, Poison.  This one, directed by Jeffrey Garcia, is a wonderful journey into the mind of a brutally honest MC.  The visual counterparts provided for this musical deep dive hit every beat brilliantly, both tonally and emotionally.  This video gets better with repeated watchings, and the song reveals itself in layers.  Props to Kenny Casanova for a dope concept on song and video, and big ups to Jeffrey Garcia for nailing it.  Definitely give this one a like and a share.
