Hard Truths :: Feral The Earthword Presents ‘Floyd’

In lieu of giving my opinion analysis (as this piece speaks for itself), I will instead share Feral the Earthworm‘s accompanying information to this video :

‘I wanted to write something for my friends and listeners who may have a different perspective.  Often I’ll see people I know promising to delete those who don’t agree with them but I’m trying to participate in genuine conversations.  I don’t want to be rude or shame you for your opinion, I just want to know what about the views stated in this song you disagree with and see if there’s some type of middle ground we can reach.

I don’t identify with the Democratic or Republican party. I’m just a 26 year old dude somewhere in the middle who found himself with a platform.  Instead of shying away from what’s difficult and just writing regular old songs, I’m leaning in to this whole thing so let’s discuss.

Lyrics are in the comments.

Bonus Truths :: TrumpCard Collaborates With Chief And TheDoomsdayDevice For ‘Shithole’

As painful as it is to sit back and watch the ills and injustices that are currently taking place (and have taken place for longer than I’ve been on this Earth), you find yourself in between the rock of silent, sad acceptance and the hard place of trying to clarify emotionally intense reactions in order to share them as sound, logical points.  Luckily, I find myself able to work though most issues with my pen, and it didn’t take much convincing when The SCROTUS reached out to me for inclusion on Shithole, one of the lead singles off of TrumpCard‘s upcoming second release, Cult 45.  Rather than put on a performance, The SCROTUS decided that reality spoke more than enough for the sentiments shared in this song, hence a video comprised of news and protest footage juxtaposed against images of American ‘values’.  This video is not an easy watch, but it is an important one, especially if we are looking to change this reality in any way, shape or form.  Please watch, please share, and please do not be silent against what you feel is unjust or an injustice.

artworks-afeohory6zrmi9he-ghuana-t500x500

As last week, and all of its connected turmoil, came to its standard calendar end, KDeath of Moodhouse took the time to invite Myke C-Town of Dead End Hip-Hop and collaborator Chief and TheDoomsdayDevice to discuss a wide array of topics and aspects connected to the turmoil.  For Moodhouse Podcast Season 7 Episode 2 – America on fire, know that we do not have the answers, and the process of understanding is not always pretty, but the three involved in the discussion are honest and unafraid.  Please listen objectively, and proceed accordingly.

New Life :: SniperShot Releases ‘Tha Mixtape IV : Tha Rebirth’

a1093971422_10

When I covered SniperShot‘s video for Face Facts a week or so ago, you’d have thought that I’d realized it was probably promo for an upcoming project.  Apparently, however, the obvious is obvious to all but me, as I recently discovered that SniperShot dropped Tha Mixtape IV : Tha Rebirth right around the same time that I discovered that video… the project actually came to my attention while prepping a post for the follow-up video to Face Facts :  the direct message that is Get Thoed

As of a week prior to this posting, I’ve not checked out the mixtape, but because I know SniperShot is behind it, I know it’s a banger.  Don’t be like me though… check this one out asap, share it around for others to do the same, and throw SniperShot some cash if you’re feeling it enough to download.

Double Down :: The Deer Release Two-Song EP Via Keeled Scales

artworks-ulzzextrbo4gyew7-lyefuq-t500x500

After the successful release of Do No Harm, you’d imagine most bands would be content to ride that success for a while, but The Deer are not most bands.  As an outfit that is always looking to give more than they receive, it only makes sense that, in conjunction with label Keeled Scales, The Deer would waste no time in releasing new music.  The two-song ep, Acid Wash | Superstition Mountains, is more of that classic material that folks have come to love from The Deer : vivid singing and songwriting, lush instrumentation and plenty of spirit embedded into the mix.  If you’re looking for some songs to kick off summer to, then The Deer have got you covered with this duo.

Mood Music :: Tiny Toro Pulls You In With ‘Ashes And Honey’

It’s awesome when supporting your friends leads to new discoveries, and doubly awesome when those discoveries are worthwhile.  This was the case when my friend Zoe Thomas posted about artwork she’d done for Ashes and Honey, the most recent release from San Marcos-based experimental instrumentalist Tiny Toro.  I was not familiar with Tiny Toro prior to this post, but as a fan of moody, somber instrumental music, this was one of the most pleasant surprises I’ve had in recent memory.  If you’re looking for a small slice of peace and tranquility in an increasingly hectic existence, then Ashes and Honey has you covered, even if only for a brief time.

A couple of Fridays ago, the homie Protextor had me on as a guest for the Protextor’s Playhouse segment of Coldtowne Theater Company‘s Twitch-based programming, ColdtowneTV.  Over the course of 20 or so minutes, Protextor and myself talked about life during COVID-19, video games, the creative process and much more.  Check out this interview (and the whole broadcast if you’re up for being entertained), and be sure to check out ColdtowneTV every Friday night for more entertainment.

Dark Matter :: MC Homeless & HaplogroupX Combine For ‘Duress’ EP

a0782371970_10

If you like your hip-hop reference-filled, sarcastic with a side of hard truth, all over jazzy melodies that hold ill drums together, then Duress has arrived for you like pennies from heaven.  HaplogroupX (consisting of Bernichus and producer/engineer Transplant) has teamed up with the formidable MC Homeless to release the project on Milled Pavement Records, and honestly, I’m surprised that this combination did not happen sooner, as it sounds completely natural.  Transplant has put together an amazing collection of tracks that are sequenced like a film score, and the MC pairing (along with special guest Anthony Maintain) have put out an early contender for the 2020 Top 10 lists for those smart enough to get hip.  Definitely don’t skip this one out… seek it out on Bandcamp to support directly, or find it on your favorite digital storefront/streaming service, and support your local creatives.

Casanova Funk :: Kenny Casanova Drops ‘SWEET AROMATIC EP (DELUXE)’

a0066297847_10

Being in a crew is nice for many reasons : the work is spread throughout more people, the opportunities for exposure are multiplied, and more ground can be covered in many aspects.  The biggest drawback, however, is establishing an identity outside the framework of the crew.  For PNTHN member Kenny Casanova, however, that drawback simply does not exist.  After a handful of loosey singles, Kenny came through in a major way with SWEET AROMATIC EP (DELUXE), a wonderfully skewed collection of psychedelic swag-filled tracks.  This one is basically required listening, so do so asap, share it around, and cop it if you’ve got a few bucks to spare.

Rainy Daze :: Gost Drops Debut Project ‘I Only Smoke When It Reigns’

Gost has been long overdue for a proper project that is available on all streaming services and digital storefronts, and at long last, we have been blessed with I Only Smoke When It Reigns.  A brief but confident collection of very personal observations, this will definitely serve as a proper signpost in the journey that Gost has been on for quite a while now, and hopefully it’ll serve as a solid calling card as he embarks on his new chapter in the Philly area.  Be sure to cop this one wherever you download or stream so that your stereo will be happy this summer.
