The one and only, extraordinary beatsmith known as Kinder has joined Lo Phi and Chief and TheDoomsdayDevice in the exclusive ranks of the Gilded Alliance. The brainchild of Glory Gold & Glitter creator Michael Scheel, the series is a chance for each producer to create a unique project, and for a piece of artwork to be created specifically for the project. Volume 3 is definitely keeping the quality bar high both visually and musically… check it out for yourselves:

Lo Phi, aka Justin Ford, is an Austin-based producer specializing in thumping, spaced-out hip-hop. His first LP of instrumentals,Slamma Jamma, was released in January via Insect. Today CMJ is premiering the first video for a cut off of that stellar beat tape for the song “Fall N Float.”
The sample-laden track combines an old-school jazz break with some smooth chords and a hazy purple lead. Keeping with the style of Lo Phi’s misty and layered production, the video coats the producer in blurs and phosphorescent trails as he takes a mellow stroll. Check it out below.

The Metropolis:
Metropolis is a really cool apartment complex in the East Riverside neighborhood of Austin. They cater to musicians and artist types and provide a chill atmosphere for people to live, create, and party. The show is in the center of the complex, where there is a pool and volleyball court. The pool area has a stage and some BBQ pits as well. The 2nd stage will be on the other side of the building, in a roped off parking lot. The volleyball court becomes our graffiti exhibition area.
