Real Talk :: Alesia Lani, G-Jet And DVZN Media Bring ‘Intentions’ To Life

2017 has been all about putting in work and building towards big moves for Alesia Lani.  She’s been putting in work in the studio and on the promotional fronts, and the music video release/rollout of Intentions shows this.  When this collaboration with G-Jet (produced by Jon Deas) first hit Soundcloud, it definitely got some attention, and it showed a bit of growth and edge emerging in Alesia Lani‘s music.  Add a bit of DVZN Media‘s visual magic, and some choreography courtesy of Michelle Gomez that has me getting Aaliyah vibes, and you’ve got a money music video.  Big ups to Alesia Lani and her whole team on the moves being made.

Someone really needs to put together a music video reel for Austin 2017, because the output has been stellar on all genre fronts.

Money Rotation :: Clova Brings A Crew For ‘Bandz’ Music Video

Clova just made the blog about a week ago, but you know how you’ve gotta do it in this rap game… hit folks again quick, and hit them harder than you did the last time.  Bandz finds Clova trading bars with some hard hitters in the Austin scene.  SertifiedGeeweezy and Domincan Jay all drop the science on keep stacked up.  The Real Chino comes through with a rock solid video, yet another one in a year full of wonderful Austin-based video output.  Here’s to hoping that 2018 can even hold a candle to what a wonderfully creative year 2017 has been for Austin rap, hip-hop and music in general.

Curating Culture :: Faylita Hicks, Arrondi Creative Productions, Ripple Market And Much More

Poet, songwriter and photographer Faylita Hicks has always had vision.  Over the past year or two, I have watched her become inspired, crystallize her vision into the formation of Arrondi Creative Productions, and slowly make headway towards unification of the artists and businesspeople of San Marcos.  With events like The Ripple Market and more becoming regular installations in the scene, the hope for artists to be able to make a living wage in this creative oasis is slowly turning from dream to reality.  Be sure to support Faylita HicksSplash Coworkings, and all of the creative endeavors that exist and are sure to come.

Time Lines:: Clova And NVision Films Bring ‘Ever Since’ To Life

Austin-based, Houston-bred hip-hop creative Clova recently joined forces with Eric Sattler of NVision Films to breathe life into the song Ever Since.  The song, a testimonial to having faith in yourself and chasing your dreams despite what others may think or say, is perfectly embodied by parallel lines of action : a confident young man finding himself, and an artist comfortable enough in his own skin to be in the moment and reflect.  Props to all parties involved for creating yet another standout music video in a year of Austin killing the music video game.

Playing Around :: Been Drops Video For ‘Board Games’

Been, currently based out of San Marcos, recently dropped a dope video for his single Board Games.  The video compliments the song very well… the laid-back demeanor that sets up the immediacy of the content… the unique style (as well as a little Rollerblade flexing, which I’ve seen Been do as I’ve driven by)… the sense of humor found in the serious musings… this one is pretty solid all the way around.  I’ll definitely be on the lookout for more content in the future.

Celebration Days :: The PNTHN’s Video Recap Of ‘[from disorder…]’ Release Party

Shout out to The PNTHN for all that they have accomplished in 2017.  The year has found the crew exploring their dynamic via music videos, live performances, and recently, the release of [from disorder…].  This release was recently celebrated at The Good Stuff Community Store in San Marcos, and a brief (but vivid) video of the event was captured by @kingChu__ & @camo_15.  Enjoy, and keep your eyes/ears open for more goodness from the crew.

Making Moves :: Sertified Is ‘On The Go’ In New Music Video

Sertified is right back at it with another solid track and video.  He’s been making a solid bit of noise the last couple of years, and On The Go finds him doing what he does best : living the fullest life that he can despite whatever energy is in his vicinity.  The track is smooth, the lyrics are honest, and the video brings nothing but smiles and motivation to those checking it out.  Props to Sertified for another positive notch in the belt, and here’s to more of that quality good stuff in the future.

Big Pictures :: Tone Royal’s Amazing ‘Late’ Music Video Now Streaming

If it’s not common knowledge by now that movie references are my soft spot, it should be apparently so in the wake of this share.  Tone Royal, based out of San Antonio, decided to go ahead and blow my mind with the release of his music video for Late.  The first single from the upcoming EP of the same name, Tone‘s video goes out of it’s way to immerse us up to our eyeballs in both famous and obscure movie reference interactions.  The animation hearkens back to the transition period between Cartoon Network and Adult Swim, and the choices are pitch perfect.  It goes without question that the song is a banger as well, making all of the elements hold one another up in a beautiful bit of harmony.  This one comes highly recommended, so definitely hit those like, share and subscribe buttons!

Permanent Vacation :: ChurchCough And Nathan Bailey Combine Forces For ‘Off’

When ConductHer and NonsenseSpence first joined up to form ChurchCough, I was immediately interested in their approach and aesthetic… it reminded me of the most free spirited aspects of bands like Yacht and Hot Chip.  The beats are tight and driving, but the vocals are sparse and stream of consciousness.    Their debut video, Creek, was a nice thunderclap in the distance… a sense that a storm was coming.  For Off, the crew reconnected with Nathan Bailey, and this time you’re dropped right into the eye of the hurricane of creativity.  The video is driven by a handful of strong images, immaculate lighting and a sense of purpose that comes off as a statement piece.  If this is an indication of what’s to come for ChurchCough, I’m doubling down on my seat for this ride.

Modern Living :: Attic Ted And Jeffrey Garcia Collaborate For ‘Down On The Farm’ Music Video

When Attic Ted and Jeffrey Garcia collaborate, wonderful things happen.  Way back in 1919, How Ya Gonna Keep Em Down On The Farm was penned, and nearly a century later, it is still relevant, so leave it to Attic Ted to include his version on his latest release, Parade Dust Mischief.  Enter Jeffrey Garcia, who is known for his uncanny ability to put memorable visuals to great music, and he does not disappoint for this endeavor.  Sprinkle in some familiar faces and we’ve got another wonderful piece of Texas art to be proud of.  Give it a like, give it a share, and support independent music!
