Downtown Science :: DotdotDotdotDotdot Comes Back Quick With ‘D(dot)ed Ass’ EP

It’s no secret that I’ve been a fan of DotdotDotdotDotdot for quite a while now… at least through two or three name adjustments.  One thing that has not adjusted or wavered, however, is his undying dedication to lacing strong production with even stronger lyrics.  After putting out the monumentally impressive From Russia With Drugs roughly one month ago, my man is back at it again with D(dot)ed Ass, an EP based around a concept that is not a concept album.  The project is told through the eyes and experience of D(dot)ed Wood, a reaper who hangs out around corner stores selling borrowed time to those already taking it for granted.  If nothing else, check out the project for Dirk, which contains one of my new favorite DotdotDotdotDotdot verses to date.  With guest appearances from Cease and 3ZoneS, plus production by the homie poolboi blubeautiful lou and more, don’t sleep on this brief little slice of wonderful.

Making Tracks :: Fibonacci All Stars Create Music Video And Vlog For ‘Turquoise Waterfalls’

From the digital desk of the Fibonacci All Stars :

“In a distant land & time before COVID, Tito Strange, Beatnik Chemist & SniperShot drove from Dallas, TX down through Mexico for an epic 22 day adventure in a van.  Its was WILD!  We hit an 18 wheeler on a mountain road, got attacked by ants in the night, extorted for money, lost a drone in a canyon, almost got arrested shooting a music video on the pyramids and encountered plenty of turquoise water!  It was too much epic-ness to list, but through it all we created a cool, laid back, 5 song EP recorded in a van in Mexico.  The Turquoise Waterfalls EP is the first release from SniperShot‘s collab project: Fibonacci All Stars.  The Turquoise Waterfalls EP and Vlog Series is out now!  Appreciate your support!”

Definitely check out all of this content, leave likes and comments where appropriate, and get your share on!

Silk Road-Warrior :: BLXPLTN Drops Powerful Video For ‘Black Site’ Single

Austin-based genre-bending outfit BLXPLTN has a knack for not only making powerful songs, but making equally powerful visuals that inform viewers on their chosen subject matters while enhancing the experience of taking the song in.  Therefore, it comes as no surprise that Black Site, their latest single and video, continues this trend by finding the band exploring ideas of escapism as a reaction to political corruption and public redundancy.  Zero Hour ATX, the collective that produced, directed and shot the video, reinforced these notions by recreating the feel of a literal dark web black site, adding little bits of code and much more into brief subliminal flashes prior to teasing the infamous snuff-style material that unwilling dark web explorers can stumble upon.  With a track record like theirs, it’s good to know that BLXPLTN doesn’t appear to be letting the foot off of the creative gas anytime soon.  Definitely check out the video, give it a like and leave a comment if you dig it, and share it around to help support Austin originals.

Audio Affirmation :: The Cocker Spaniels Return With ‘The Cocker Spaniels Are Still Alive, And So Are You’

From the digital desk of The Cocker Spaniels :

“This is my first full-length album in a decade; a tribute to my spouse, our children, and our cats; a meditation on grief, loss, birth, and life; a reflection of my growth as a person and a musician over the last decade; a souvenir of how I stayed sane through a pandemic and the upheaval it caused; an album that sounds like folk-rock, power-pop, funk, grunge, dub, goth, punk, shoegaze, R&B or black metal depending on the song.  I’m very proud of it, and I hope that you enjoy it!”

Dive in, enjoy, and spread the love with others!

Fire Starter :: Chris Conde Blends Exploration Of Pride And Culture With ‘Summertime Heat’

As a Central Texas-based hip-hop artist, it’s no secret that Chris Conde has been exposed to a blend of different musical and cultural spectrums from several of the different racial groups that populate the area.  As a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community as well, it seems like Conde figured that Pride Month would be a perfect opportunity to help bridge any gaps that may exist between these different spectrums, and with the help of the legendary Cumbia producer El Dusty, he has done so in the form of Summertime Heat, a Cumbia-heavy banger meant to keep parties going strong all summer.  Definitely don’t sleep on this one.

Deep Impact :: Aux Cutter Makes An Instant Mark With ‘On Blast’ Video

It’s hard to be a fan of Austin hip-hop over the past 5 years or so and not be familiar with Ben Buck, and after a strong last couple of years with his hands in several different ventures, it appears that he is ready to make a sizeable impact on the scene via Aux Cutter, a collective featuring himself, the equally talented Nate Thee Great and hard-hitting Austin-based mainstay Shadowboxin on production.  On Blast, their debut single, hits the ground running as the lyrical duo trades brief sets of bars over the driving, momentum-filled beat, and thanks to the highly artistic eye of Jonathan K. Horstmann, the debut video not only looks great, but does a great job of catching the visual version of the energy that infuses the single.  Definitely check this one out, leave a like and a comment, and share it around for everyone to get hip to.

Mad Real :: MAD1NE Brings More Heat With ‘Respect Is Non Negotiable’

MAD1NE has been busy this year, and he’s driving that point home with Respect Is Non Negotiable, his fourth release of the year.  For this project, he tapped recent collaborator Blazy Green to handle production duties exclusively, and outside of a guest appearance from Jamar Equality, we get a quick but powerful burst of the MAD1NE lyricism that he has become known for, full of inspirational and education gems infused with high style and and a forceful delivery.  If you’re a fan of that signature San Antonio hip-hop sound that is keeping the true school aesthetic alive, then don’t sleep on Respect Is Non Negotiable.

The Rollout :: Ryan Darbonne And Company Present ‘I AM TX’

I can’t lie, I’ve been waiting for this day for a long time, and have been very excited to share it with the world.  For those who know, they know the wheels of entertainment turn a bit slower on the film side, so after a successful production, an impressive run at the film festival circuit, and a bit of unplanned time on the shelf due to COVID-19, it brought me great pleasure when Ryan Darbonne let all of the I AM TX cast and crew know that the film was finally ready to share to the world.  It stars the multi-talented Jonathan K. Horstmann from BLXPLTNUrban Heat and much more, Pleasure Venom lead singer Audrey Campbell and myself, and featured the talents of many Austin-based members of the film scene.  We’re very proud of what we made, and even prouder to share it with everyone, so please take a moment to check it out, and if you feel inclined to do so, let us know what you thought and share it with others.

Multilayered Moving :: Poolboi Blu Continues Release Onslaught

When it comes to the homie poolboi blu these days, I don’t know whether to holler at all of our collective friends and schedule a party or an intervention.  Work ethic has never been a question, but very similar to the Kydd Jones situation I mentioned yesterday, poolboi continues to put out high quality work at a pretty impressive and slightly alarming volume, to the point where I’m wondering when cats sleep.  After putting a rush job on following up the ultra-mellow sincere (volume 015) with the banger-filled sincere (volume 016)poolboi dropped a very timely single titled pandemic p hours after the Los Angeles Clippers managed to make the first Western Conference Finals in team history.  poolboi blu isn’t playing around with these dual releases, so go give them the like and comment treatment, and share them around so others can do the same!

Triple Down :: Kydd Jones Releases Trio Of New Singles

Like many of the artists that I cover on this blog, Kydd Jones is seemingly always working on something new, so you usually don’t have to wait very long for something new to hit the streets.  I recently found myself in a bit of a delay on the blog, and in the time that the unplanned hiatus took place, Kydd dropped 3 different singles.  TV On is a mellow banger from TyOnDaTrack where his style emulates that feeling of catching random bits and pieces of information from a stimulus running in the background on a subliminal level.  Elon Musk, another strange but mellow banger courtesy of Butcher Bear (the homie), finds KyddTank Washington and Bryson Brown talking about personal evolution.  Native Tongue, the most recent of the batch, finds guest vocalist Y2 joining Kydd on a track by Haris Qureshi as they get vibey and abstract on what feels like an ode to an avatar meant to represent powerful feminine energy.  I’m hoping that this batch of singles means a project is on the way, because as always, the work is very strong and definitely worth checking out, so do so immediately!
