Scary Hours :: Mad1ne And Blazy Green Tap Johnny Depp For ‘Castaways’ Video

Mad1ne is continuing his prolific 20202021 run, and it seems like it’s only gaining momentum at the moment, meaning things are probably just getting really and truly going.  Mad1ne and Blazy Green hit up Johnny Depp for some guest bars on Castaways, the latest single and video from Dark Side Of Jupiter.  The track is dope, featuring a beat switch halfway through and bars all around, and the video not only features everyone tapped for the track, but a guest appearance from the homie Ruler Why as well.  Definitely check it out, leave a like and a comment, and share it around so everyone can dig it.

Monster Hunter :: Poolboi Blu Gets Cinematic With SoundCloud Exclusive Track ‘10.31.20(demo)’

The homie poolboi blu should’ve dropped this one back on Halloween, but I’d imagine that he sat on it due to COVID-19‘s impact on the world.  That being said, 10.31.20(demo) is a pretty catchy track… the beat is a touch sinister and a touch trickster, and you can tell that poolboi blu is vibing on his vocal performance while clearly entertaining himself heavily.  This one was a total surprise, but definitely a pleasant one… go check it out, leave a like and a comment if you’re feeling it, and share it around, especially this Halloween!

Best Medicine :: Ratarue Releases New Video For ‘Time Heals A Broken Heart’

Ratarue recently hit me up to let me know that his latest single from Legend of the Gatling Tongue, the somber headnodder Time Heals a Broken Heart, had just been given the video treatment, but honestly, I had no idea I was about to get hit with something so artistic.  The song is dope by its own merits, with the slightly off-kilter and dark beat matching the despondency of what would be an otherwise positive message likely skewed due to repeat negative experiences.  Therefore, it makes sense that the video would be an artistic, expertly crafted piece of visual stimulus thanks to the efforts of Andi AveryKate E. Hinshaw and their entire production crew.  Hopefully this video gets the numbers run up, and if an opportunity to submit it to festivals arises, I would highly recommend that Ratarue and company do so, as they may be pleasantly surprised by the potential outcome.

Manifestation Music :: The Vapor Caves And Jackie Venson Connect For ‘Dreams’

I love how The Vapor Caves can simultaneously sound ahead of the pack and rooted in the past with what seems like relative ease.  For Dreams, the duo tapped guitarist Jackie Venson to add a little spice to their synth-based funk for a song that sounds like it belongs on a mixtape between Sheena Easton and Sheila E.  I don’t know how BoomBaptist and Yadira Brown continue to ride this wave of beautiful sonic creation, but it doesn’t look like it will crest at any point in the near future, even with the industry at large in a strange ebb.  Long story short, check out this track, download it, stream it, request it from your favorite radio or TV show, hack into an HEB public intercom and play it loud, or just throw it on repeat and take a drive.  In all seriousness, share this one around, follow The Vapor Caves on your favorite social media hangout, and always support your local mad geniuses.

Also, shout out to René Cárdenas for the dope cover design.

Trippy Trap :: Ken Casio Drops Another Mind Scrambling Video With ‘BallinOuttaControl’

Ken Casio and Jeffrey Garcia have found themselves a winning formula, and it doesn’t look like they have plans to abandon it at any point in the near future.  Their latest collaboration, the upbeat BallinOuttaControl, uses the same psychedelic Tim & Eric, Awesome Show, Great Job! approach they’ve used in previous videos, and you know what they say… if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.  The visuals match the energy put forth by Ken Casio and the Popstar Benny Baredex production, with every element jumping off the screen and at your eyeballs with warp speed and reckless abandon.  Dig the video, leave a like and a comment if you’re feeling it, and share it around to make it viral!

Survivor Sacrifices :: Clemits Continues Honoring MF DOOM Via Video With ‘CLEM F DOOM’

Austin-based MC and producer Clemits is keeping the remembrance of fallen hip-hop icon MF DOOM alive and well as he continues to share singles and videos from his dedication mixtape CLEM F DOOM.  This time around, he’s hit viewers with the single that shares its name with the project, and it’s a fitting parallel, as the single not only shows honor and respect to DOOM, but it also allows Clemits to express his ability to persevere in all of the madness that life lays out in front of us.  Mad props to the homie Clemits for being so respectful and honest in this venture, where many nowadays would sadly choose to exploit the passing of a man who meant so much to hip-hop.  If you’re feeling what Clemits is putting down, leave a like and a comment, and share it around for the rest of us hip-hop lovers still recovering.

Anybody with half a brain understands that nobody is perfect, and that all of us are out here trying our best to navigate the world and make some sort of positive impact without causing damage or issues to others.  It’s this exact energy that fuels Everyday, the latest single and video from San Antonio MC Chris Conde from his upcoming Fake Four release Engulfed in the Marvelous Decay.  With a little help from video director Wayne Fau, Conde is able to capture a down to Earth, slice of life presentation of his do-good manifesto, possibly in hopes of inspiring others to order their steps in a similar fashion.  With the April 4th release of the project rapidly approaching, be sure to keep your eyes and ears open and tuned to Chris Conde‘s social media so that you can be hip from day one.

Starving Artists :: Evolve X Chef Mike Whip Up Some ‘Gourmet Dust’

While most artists are trying to figure out how to regain the momentum lost from COVID-19 and the pandemic, Evolve‘s only problem seems to be determining how not to flood his audience in his creative outputs.  Gourmet Dust marks his 5th offering in less than 6 months, with this one being a collaboration between himself and Detroit-based producer Chef Mike, and the quality has only risen as the quantity of releases within this short span of time grows.  The duo team up for some raw, gritty headbanger tracks reminiscent of that golden early 1990s stretch where what you said was just as important as how you said, and none of it mattered at all without gripping production behind it.  The Ibe Hustles feature is a nice touch, rounding out a brief but powerful sonic onslaught worth much more than the $1 they are charging for the record.  Get on that immediately, pass this one around for others to follow suit, and don’t sleep on your local underground kings.
