One of my favorite things to do as someone with a modicum of a voice in the Austin hip-hop culture is to share other creators that I find high caliber and inspiring. Doing this through mixes has always been a favorite way to do so, but it’s been a while since I dedicated time to doing so. With so many talented acts from or based in Austin, it’s impossible to get them all in one sweep, so Escapism : Southern Comfort reaches for the vibey side of things… all of my peers are substance-based, but these are acts that I consider high style as well. Direct peers like Riders Against the Storm (RAS), Cory Kendrix, anom, PNTHN, MC Homeless and Chris Conde, wallaby and bobbes, Ddotelles, Click-Clack and more get shine alongside established acts with Texas roots like BROCKHAMPTON and Travis Scott. I’m happy with this one, and hopefully folks dig it enough to spread it around!

Another dope music video has been released for one of the many dope …&More… tracks that exists. This go round, Ndelible Ink lent a visual hand for Faces Places, and the end product will most certainly occupy a space in the depths of your mind. The setting is rustic, the juxtaposition between the presentations of Scuare and no1mportant are pitch perfect, and the main track is bookended by two of the instrumental tracks off of Existence Is Futile. You’ve heard me say it before, and I’ll say it again until it happens.. how are these cats not signed or at the next level yet? Don’t sleep, Austin, and maybe you’ll be lucky enough to say you’ve been down since day one when these cats eventually blow up.

Austin Mic Exchange has been a breeding ground for lots of new hip-hop talent, and it has been a perfect place for networking. Existence Is Existential is the physical proof of those facts. …&more… is comprised of AMX mainstays Scuare and no1mportant, and this album shows them flexing much collective muscle. Show these cats some love by dropping a few bucks and spreading the word about this project. Here’s to hoping this is the beginning of a fruitful collaboration!
