Shine Time :: KNDRX Drops Ill Video For ‘Pressure’

They say that pressure makes diamonds, and it’s crystal clear that the homie KNDRX is aware of this adage, as his latest single and video, the brief but super catchy Pressure, displays.  Over a montage of dope performance footage, casual footage and hype session footage all cut together with slick and eye-catching editing, KNDRX drops bars about how his life, lifestyle and environment has shaped him into the man he is today, all over a powerful A Train beat.  QNTM must be given his props for the work on this video, as it more than stands up to the high bar for quality that KNDRX has set for himself and has consistently met.  Definitely check this one out as soon as possible, leave a like and a comment if you’re feeling it, and share it around!

More Hardcore :: EVOLVE And DJ PROOF Connect For ‘SLANG BANG’

Fans of boom-bap, raw and honest hip-hop are hopefully hip to EVOLVE by now, as the Texas resident stays embracing the street aesthetic that made hip-hop what it was during the 1990s, arguably the heyday of hip-hop’s creativity and cultural growth.  With the assistance of DJ PROOF on production, the track SLANG BANG plays like a brutally honest admission of fully embracing every bit of the grittiness that makes the dark side of hip-hop so enjoyable.  The drum heavy, dark and minimalist track serves as the perfect backdrop for EVOLVE‘s stream of consciousness flow, which is always on point and full of rhymes and references within rhymes and references.  Check this one out asap, cop it if you can, and spread it around so everyone can get down.

Culturally Aware :: SniperShot Expands Range With ‘Never Stop’ Single From ‘Walking Contradiction’

When it comes to Texas hip-hop, SniperShot holds a unique place as an artist with deeply Southern influences and tendencies that serve as the top layer for depths and depths of cultural appreciation and experience.  Those who have followed SniperShot on social media the last few years have seen him journey and explore many different locations on the globe, and that openness to take in what the world is willing to show him is completely showing in his latest release.  Never Stop is a great introductory single, with its Tex-Mex mix serving as a perfect table-setter for Walking Contradiction, a collection of songs with influences from all over the map (globally and culturally).

You already know what to do… run the numbers up everywhere, comment and like where you can, and share the video and album with anyone you think will dig it!

Always Rising :: Wallaby N Bobbes Pop Back Up With ‘Port Hack’

Wallaby N Bobbes jumped out on the Austin scene and immediately established themselves as one of the dopest duos around, with Muggsy Flowz getting the chance to showcase his stellar rhyming ability on top of the amazingly consistent production of Dr. Bobby Banner, MPC.  A few years removed from their self-titled debut, the new single Port Hack finds the duo rocking new fits, bringing a much more direct approach and overall capturing the personal evolution that these last couple of character-building years has provided each of them with.  With Muggsy‘s declaration of the duo aiming to go “30 for 30”, it’s clear that they have no intention of slowing down anytime soon, so be on the lookout for a new project for them (hopefully sooner than later), and many more bangers in the future.  As for the video, leave a like and a comment, subscribe to the Dr. Bobby Banner, MPC YouTube channel, and share it around so everyone can get down!

Being Me :: Rajinee Shakes Souls And Enlightens Minds With ‘Catcall & Response’ (featuring Ol’ Black Stooge)

I hadn’t heard of rajinee prior to the homie Ryan Darbonne‘s (or, in this case, Ol’ Black Stooge) post, but if the homie is a part then I’m in with no questions asked.  As someone who’s been on a major Deb Never kick, rajinee was definitely speaking to my soul, though rajinee has the benefit of bigger, livelier and more bombastic production supporting her.  On Catcall & Responserajinee not only brings wisdom to what is almost certainly a reoccurring traumatic experience, but manages to artistically express the interaction via some very striking choreography.  The King of the Hill shoutout is super entertaining as well, and allows my aforementioned homie an entrance into the world of the June Third Films production.  This is the kind of video that will likely win some Austin Music Video Awards trophies, should they choose to submit the video, but regardless of whatever possible awards and recognition this video may get, it deserves your attention, so don’t hesitate to give it a watch, a like and a comment before spreading it far and wide!

Fall Footwork :: Poolboi Blu Drops Surprise ‘318!’ Single

As a longtime friend and fan of poolboi blu, I’ve enjoyed seeing his growth as a songwriter, recording artist and performer, but I’d be lying to you if I didn’t admit that the foundation of my fandom is his production.  My earliest exposure to his work (outside of the stellar and slept on cloudy w/ a chance, which he sang on and produced) were his beat tapes like potpourri.fine dining… & breathing. and Chocolat, but as he bridged over into the aforementioned cloudy era that transitioned into ANTSYDIXIE and MASON (not to mention Rain of the Squids and a recent single run), I was preparing for poolboi blu to go full evolution into his version of a traditional recording artist.  jubilee showed me he hadn’t lost his production chops, but the recent 318! drop is a remind to me (and everyone else) that poolboi blu is still dropping bangers that will work in your club and party mixes.  Enough with my impromptu history lesson though… go check the single, run the numbers up, comment on the track for maximum engagement and share it around just because!

High Priorities :: NOOK Turner Taps MO3 & Trina For ‘Put Ya Hustle 1st’

I’ve been a long-time fan of hip-hop, but there was a definitive point in my life where I became a participant in the culture as well.  When that time occurred, I was down with a crew known as DKC, headed by Austin hip-hop legend and Jump On It! Summer Concert Series creator NOOK Turner.  With that time being so long ago, it’s good to see that NOOK is still actively releasing music and growing his brand.  I recently stumbled across his latest single, the ethos-driven anthem Put Ya Hustle 1st, a rhythmic affirmation of the stance that NOOK Turner has always taken with assistance by hip-hop powerhouse Trina and a hook from MO3.  If you like hip-hop that makes your head nod while simultaneously filling it with good information, then Put Ya Hustle 1st is the track for you… the numbers are already up on it, but you can help drive them sky high by liking, commenting and sharing the video around if you feel it.

Revisionist History :: Curbside Jones Blesses Our Eardrums With ‘CurbFlips’

Remixes have always been a vital part of the music industry at large, but for hip-hop, there is a special appreciation for taking the familiar and putting a new spin to it.  After a run of personally introspective and worldview expanding releases, I love the fact that Curbside Jones has thrown us all for a loop (pun intended) with a series of chop-heavy remixes on CurbFlips, his latest drop.  Artists like Pusha T, Freddie Gibbs, Common, Yasiin Bey, Sean Price, MF DOOM, Playboi Carti and many more get the Curbside Jones filter applied to great effect.  Definitely cop this one when payday comes around, and regardless of whether or not you own it, stream it and share it with everyone.

Running Things :: Kydd Jones Goes Big On Self-Affirmation With ‘Sprinter’

There’s never been a debate (to my knowledge) on whether or not Kydd Jones is confident in his skill, and with his latest single (the immediately catchy banger Sprinter), we can now be comfortable in knowing that Kydd is wholly confident in himself as well.  With 13 singles already under his belt in 2021, that shouldn’t have been up for debate anyway, but if it was, Sprinter would stand as the closing argument with Kydd‘s symbolic ruminations on putting distance between him and the pack, him needing a rear-view mirror to see said competition, and his forward momentum all hitting just as hard as the NIP Productions beat he’s flowing to.  Pretty much all of this work has been memorable, but Sprinter is definitely high on my list of favorites.  If you dig it like I dig it, cop it if you’ve got a spare buck, stream it on your favorite service, and definitely share it around for all to enjoy.

Constant Gardener :: Ratarue Returns With ‘Spent Blooms’ Single

One of the beautiful aspects of hip-hop music is the way that heavy rhythms and poetic ruminations can be juxtaposed to not only bolster a narrative, but create an entire mood that is felt in the process of comprehending the message of a song.  For this instance, the example being examined is Spent Blooms, the latest single from Austin-based MC and producer Ratarue.  Over a very layered and uniquely complex instrumental, Ratarue takes a deeply extended metaphoric dive into the realms of tending to your personal symbolic garden, giving growing things and opportunity to bloom and the importance of removing what is dead to allow what is living to thrive.  I know this track is one that Ratarue is very happy with and confident about, and it shows in both the production value and the performance captured.  If you’ve got a few bucks to spare, consider using it to support Ratarue.
