Turbo Graphics :: Mozey Releases Instant Classic Video For ‘Hatter’

If there are three things I love in this world, it’s music, film and video games.  Thanks to the homie Jenkins2D, I stumbled across Hatter by Mozey, a recently released music video that combines all three of these loves in the best ways possible.  Jenkins2D was my in due to the fact that the final boss of the music video/video game presented is one of his creations, and luckily for me, the work his creation is associated with stands up to the high bar he has set in terms of quality and enjoyment.  The song is memorable, catchy and has a good energy to it, and the 8-bit graphics used in the video instantly bring up feelings of nostalgia, despite the creation itself being a new one.  Check out the video for sure, leave a comment and a like if you enjoy it, and spread it around for everyone to see!

Spirits Moving :: J Soulja And BLakChyl Combine For ‘Allah’ Video

Austin hip-hop remains one of the most diverse scenes out there, with most any flavor of the culture you can think of represented by quality artists and art.  For those looking for depth and a touch of spirituality in the work, look no further than J Soulja, who has proven over the years that his work contains both of these aspects and much more.  Recently, J Soulja tapped New High Filmz to help bring Allah, a collaboration between himself and fellow thought-provoking MC BLakChyl, to life with a highly professional music video reminiscent of the late-1990s, early 2000s aesthetic that hip-hop is famously known for.  The juxtaposition between the raw, unbridled, very human passion of Mike Tyson, and his musings and references to Allah and personifying God qualities, works well in both the song and video form as well, neatly tying everything together.  Check out the video, leave a like and a comment if you dig it, and share it around for others to do the same.

Think Globally :: Salvasquared and Usedtobe Connect For ‘SnowMelt’

Austin-based MC Salvasquared has taken the old-ish adage of ‘think globally, act locally’ to heart with his latest single and video, the Usedtobe-produced ditty that is SnowMelt.  Over a diverse-sounding, cultural mixing beat, Salvasquared talks about how the experience of seeing the world not only puts your home-realm into perspective, but it changes you mentally as well, sometimes erasing thoughts and issues that formerly held you back.  Though most of us are grounded per shelter-in-place rules, I agree with Salvasquared in regards to how seeing the world can improve your scope, and highly recommend travelling to those that are able when they are able.  As for this video, definitely leave a like and a comment, share it around for all to enjoy, and support your local wandering creatives!

Focus Group :: #DOOMpeerREVIEW Dedicates Episode To College Of Hip-Hop Knowledge

I’m a week late in sharing this one, but the fifth episode of #DOOMpeerREVIEW took a special focus on Austin‘s own College of Hip-Hop Knowledge (CHHK).  From their Austin Hip-Hop Awards cipher down to their extensive catalog of solo and group videos, the talent of the CHHK is undeniable.  Enjoy this episode, leave a like and a comment, share it around if you dig it, and stay tuned for future episodes, with more special episodes every fifth release!

Resonance Rap :: Levi Deadman Goes Esoteric With ‘Patient Zero (Najar Media)’

For those of us that have been in shelter-in-place for what is pushing 9 months now, there are two (in my opinion) proper ways to approach it : circle and assess your creative wagons, or take the time for deep introspection.  It seems that Levi Deadman is on a similar page based on his latest single and video, Patient Zero (Najar Media).  Levi Deadman‘s new banger focuses on the impact his simple statement of being alive and aware can cause, and in the way that leaders do, the single serves as an example for others to follow.  Add a bit of down south, psychedelic, indie-level imagery to the mix, and you’ve got yourself a winner on all fronts.  Dig the video, leave a like and a comment if you enjoy it, and share it around for others to do the same.

Slow Vibes :: Mélat Makes ‘No Promises’

When I first got hip to Mélat a few years ago, I was immediately impressed by her unique look, and the way it juxtaposed against her more traditional approach to R&B music. As the years have gone by, Mélat continues to impress, and recently, she snuck a new song and video out to the internet with me being somehow completely unaware of it. No Promises, a slow burn about the give and take of a relationship, as well as the process of learning when to take someone’s word in a completely literal or symbolic context, definitely leaves a mark long after it’s complete. The colorful video is a bonus, pulling the viewer/listener into Mélat‘s world. Check out the video, leave a like and a comment if you dig, and share it around for others to do the same!

Manifesto Blast :: Feral The Earthworm Keeps ‘Throwies’ Going With ‘Golden Arches’

In his never-ending quest to enlighten and entertain the open-minded section of the masses, Feral the Earthworm has dropped another chapter in his ongoing series of Throwies videos.  With Golden Arches, however, Feral the Earthworm puts the didactic tactics on hold, instead opting to focus on more abstract points such as consumerism and self-respect.  As he is not looking to lay out historical or logical context for this one, and instead stand his ground on personal beliefs, the energy is amped up, and the delivery is much more urgent, giving us a glimpse back to the days when Feral the Earthworm was a raw, uncut gem of an MC still finding ways to put his ideas together into the hard-hitting content he is known for today.  Feral the Earthworm always gets props around here, so be sure to like and comment if you dig, and share it around for others to enjoy!
