Equivalent Exchange :: Chief And TheDoomsdayDevice Releases ‘The Reclamation Project’ For Fake Four Inc. #FREEcember

Over the past 5 or so years, I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Ceschi Ramos and become a member of the Fake Four Inc. family.  With a roster full of underground heavyweights and close peers already on the docket, it is a HUGE honor to find myself as an official member now, courtesy of the first #FREEcember release of 2020, The Reclamation Project.  During the course of 2020, a span of time where many people where given the opportunity to reflect on their life uninterrupted, I decided to take the process a step further by revisiting two of my previous instrumental releases : Slow Burnout and This Town Has Turned To Dust.  I picked my favorite ‘beats’ from these albums, removed previously used elements, and approached them as traditional narrative-structure songs.  I am very happy with the final result, and honored to have it be a part of Fake Four‘s yearly tradition.  I even made some quick, low budget visuals to go with each song in preparation for Fake Four Fridays, which will air Friday, December 4th at twitch.tv/fakefourinc at 7 PM EST.  For those unable to view the stream, or those who are impatient and want to see them immediately, I have created a non-presentational form YouTube playlist.

Download the album for free, donate if you can, and PLEASE share it around, as it would mean the world to me.  Thank you in advance to those that do help, and have a great weekend to everyone!

Manifesting Visions :: Chief and TheDoomsdayDevice Drops ‘LANIE’, A New Short Film

In my never-ending quest to express my creative drive and desires in as many ways as possible, I have released a new short film.  LANIE is the story of a young woman making a mid-travel stop at an air b&b location, only to discover that the location holds much more in store than she could ever imagine or bargain for.  Making this one was a blast, as Moira McCulloch and Colton Ferguson delivered wonderfully strong performances, and the homegirl K Death was gracious enough to allow me to use some of her older tunes as score material.  My short films and music videos generally don’t do major numbers, but the reception to this one has been a joy to behold, so if you find the time, please check it out, leave a like and a comment, and share it around for others to experience.

Joyful Noise :: Nick Hanover Of OVRLD Creates ‘All Night Fever’ For Mixcloud

My good friend Nick Hanover, the driving force of the popular Austin music and culture blog OVRLD.com, has some of the best taste in music of anyone that I know.  For anyone with doubts, his newly created Mixcloud channel serves as proof of this fact.  So far, All Night Fever 9/20 has been my favorite episode, with its focus landing squarely on the wide range of punk-influenced music from the Austin area.  The playlist is diverse, with classic bands like Big BoysScratch AcidThe Dicks and Butthole Surfers sharing time with newer acts like Pleasure VenomBLXPLTNMeat BeltInstitute and much more.  If you like irreverent, loud music with a message that’ll get you charged up, look no further than this mix.

Pirate Signals :: Chief And TheDoomsdayDevice Presents ‘DOOMpeerREVIEW’ Music Video Show

As a child of the 1980s and 1990s, I have a fond memory of music videos and the important role they played in both television programming and artist promotion/development.  MTv was a cultural landmark of massive proportions, and from my earliest memories of the channel (prior to its shift towards reality television programming), I must admit that the onslaught of music videos inspired and shaped me.  Decades later, the game may have changed in regards to what cable offers, but websites like YouTube have not only stepped in to fill the void, but it gives many artists a platform that they otherwise would not have gotten due to the big business gatekeepers.  I’ve been planning on getting my second YouTube channel going for quite a while, and now that DOOMtube is officially operational, I am proud to present the first of what will (hopefully) be a number of programs on the channel : DOOMpeerREVIEW.  If you like music videos, supporting local artists, and a slight touch of the way things used to be, don’t delay… subscribe now to be notified about new uploads, and share the channel with others so they can do the same.

Preserving History :: Mirage The Gr8’s ‘The Rhythm Still Plays’ Documentary Now Streaming

Mirage the Gr8 and myself have had a several year working relationship, and an even longer friendship.  The music video commissions he sends my way have made me a better editor and creator, in my opinion.  As the previous decade was coming to a close and 2020 was on the horizon, I envisioned myself making a documentary project of some kind, so when Mirage proposed his idea for The Rhythm Still Plays, a documentary celebrating the 20-year anniversary of his Good Vibe Records release Life Is A Rhythm (L.I.A.R.), I was all in.  I knew that it would be an important reflection of a big moment in the careers of he and Tee Double, but I had no idea that it would turn out to be a solid reflection of the era in Austin hip-hop that was the most inspirational for me as a young man.  Sit back, enjoy, leave a like and a comment if you dig it, and share it around for everyone to see!
